I am a bit desperate right now as the original A320 is rubbish but I can’t make the A320NX work properly. By the way, I am not a pilot but have been flying simulators for years so I do know how to land.
I’ve used the installer, tried all 3 versions (stable, development, experimental) but the plane always does some weird stuff during ILS approaches:
a) Approaches too far to the right of the runway
b) Floats over the runway after the gear touches down
c) Stops following the G/S and all of a sudden pitches up (without me touching anything)
Today has been the icing on the cake: tried 2 landings, in the first one the plane stopped following the G/S when I was at about 500 feet height. In the second one, when I was at about 100 feet, I disconnected the AP (since the plane approached the runway too far to the right, far from the center line and I wanted to steer to the left a bit). Right after disconnecting the AP the plane automatically pitched up like crazy and I had to initiate a go around.
I have no assists, everything is on ‘True to Life’. I know everybody loves FlyByWire but I am desperate, it’s too buggy for me, but I have no other alternative.
Try disconnecting the AP earlier maybe at MDA (not DH) or a little higher. This high enough to make any corrections and stabilize the aircraft for landing.
Okay, one thing that would help us help you in this case is that when picture speaks a thousand words, a video speaks a million words. Having a recording of the event would help us get the best idea on what’s going on to help you. But based on the information you provided, I can think of something that comes to my mind.
a) Approaches too far right of the runway can mean several things. What airport and which runway are you approaching? You’ve been flying simulators for years so I assumed you know about offset localiser? I’m wondering if you’re approaching an airport runway with an offset localiser which tends to point your aircraft to either side of the runway.
b) Floats over the runway can mean several reasons, either you didn’t arm the spoilers, or you didn’t manually deploy the spoilers, or that you’re approaching too fast and too hard which resulted in the bounce or floats. Again without a recording on what happened, it’s difficult for me to imagine the situation.
c) Pitching up and stop following G/S could mean a few thing too, it could be AI copilot taking over, or your phantom inputs coming from your controls overriding things, or something wrong with your trimming.
You may have been flying flight simulators for years, but out of all those years, have you been flying the A320 long?
In the end, try to do a bit of housekeeping:
- Set flight model to modern, don’t use legacy.
- Set assists to hard/true to life (you already done this, but doesn’t hurt to recheck to make sure).
- AI Copilot need to be turned off at all times.
- Set deadzones to all your controls with at least 5-10%.
But out of all this, it may not apply to your scenario at all. So, a recording of what happened will help greatly. As a bonus, here’s a recording of me doing the landing. I don’t seem to get the issues you’re having. And I 'm using the Experimental Custom FBW version.
I’m also having similar problems since day before yesterday but not only during approach. I found that the aircraft suddenly starts deviating from flight plan a couple of degrees left or right. It’s as if heading goes to to selected mode by itself, but it’s obviously not.
I will retry one of my routes tonight after emptying the Community folder (except for A32NX) in case there is some conflict.
Are you talking about crabbing? Like where the aircraft positions its nose heading towards the wind direction to automatically compensate for the wind drifting?
Or are you talking about the STAR waypoint skip bug, where the plane just skips the next waypoint and head straight towards the runway?
Nopes, that’s not it. The aircraft simply starts leaving the “line” shown in the MFD. I can solve it by going direct to next waypoint.
Like, during cruising phase?
Yes. But like I said, could be some conflict as it doesn’t seem like a common problem. Will try later today with empty community folder.
My community folder only has Navigraph, a few airport addons, some cockpit retexture, and livery mods along with the A32NX.
Just out of curiosity; why do you have navigation in your community folder. Any benefits I am not taking advantage of?
Just curious really.
I started using navigraph because the default navigation data was horrible. If you approach to almost all of the Chinese airports like Shanghail, Beijing, etc. All the ILS runways navaids are not inline with the runway. Even though the real life charts doesn’t suggest they are an offset localiser.
As soon as I install the navigraph mod, it fixes these navaids to have properly lined up with the runways.
It also gives an added benefit that once the ILS signal is detected by the aircraft. The ND will show which ILS category it is. the default nav doesn’t do that.
It’s a paid subscription, but I think it’s worth it because you get the charts as well.
What I meant was; why navigraph in the community folder, specifically. I have been using navigraph for a few months now and enjoy its benefits. I start navigraph from my task bar and run it on a separate monitor, although I wish I had access to it, while in VR.
Because that’s how you install the latest AIRAC cycle and the nav updates for the sim to use. The Navigraph Navdata installs the navupdate into the Packages/Community folder. Without this, the sim will use the default navblue navdata, and that has some issues like the ILS not positioned correctly, etc etc. Which the navigraph navdata fixes these issues.
…and all this time I had been wondering why I couldn’t update the data in msfs. Lol

It’s understandable if you’re coming from previous flightsim with the FMS Data system. They don’t work with MSFS, so it’s easy to think that it just doesn’t work.
But the forum has a category dedicated to MSFS and the instructions to download the separate installer and update the navdata.
I have the benefit of not knowing about navigraph at all before getting MSFS. So for me, it’s a blank slate and I get to learn everything about it. That’s how I found about this, and get it working.
I would like to know if TS problems are solved (and how) as I’m experiencing the same issues. I’ll make a video of my approaches. I know there are ILS issues in general but this is probably due to me doing something not totally correct in the last NM.
I haven’t had these issues anymore. All my issues such as this one and circling when AP turned on went away after setting all deadzones to 5-10% in the controls.
