I thought I’d see this question pop up sooner… was wondering if in the future we’ll have the ability to buy specific aircraft or airports from the Deluxe or Premium Deluxe versions (if we only have the base game)?
My guess would be no because they can make far more money by making you buy a whole package. And judging from some of the comments and reviews of these aircraft you are probably better off waiting for a 3rd party to release one.
They might do it in time but I wouldn’t expect it anytime soon.
Ideally I would just have just seen Standard version or be sold, and if you want to try new airplanes or airports you could ‘test-fly’ them. If you like it then you can buy it and tailor the game/sim to your own needs.
I am interested in the C172 Gauge, but hella I am not paying 90 or 120 euro to acces the plane. I am also not interested in other handcrafted Airports outside Benelux, UK, Ireland , Scandinavia/Fennoscandia and N-Zealand.
Standard edition + modelshop is probably the best choice. With Standard there’s already lots of airplanes to fly and I still have only touched the C152.
If the option is ever available, it won’t be for quite a while. The only reason to spend more on a higher tier is for the planes or airports. Offering them individually would defeat the purpose.
The way I see it is that the Deluxe or Premium Deluxe are good value if you’re interested in most or all of this additional content, but if you’re only interested in a single plane or airport then you’ll probably not get those versions- the end result being no sale for MS.
Opening up individual planes/airports (I can imagine someone wanting their local hand crafted airport if available, or a steam guage cessna for eg) opens up more potential sales, attracting people who are not attracted to the Deluxe versions.
This is my assumption, of course. Maybe MS has done the right thing in terms of how things are currently structured.
