That’s what I been doing in FS2024 for many hours and have no issue.
@MathieuSK, do you have any assistance option which would make the “assistant pilot” tune and chat with ATC on your behalf ? I have deactivated all assistance options. I just don’t talk to ATC, don’t set the radio frequency, and everything works fine on my side.
And I go on IVAO when I want to play with fellows ATC
