It’s amazing that this feature isn’t available. There’s already an option in the MSFS20 marketplace, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to do something similar for our airplane hangar.
Why did FS2024 move backwards in this respect? Now all the single engine, turboprops, airliners, etc are all jumbled together under the heading Airplanes. It’s even harder to find the one you want especially with sideways rather than vertical scrolling.
Wow - this thread is long (and old…)!!
Could MS/Asobo simply add some filters? I thought the new interface would be a lot better than 2020 but… We can filter even more.
I would go with an option for “Favorites” and something like :
- Pistons
- Turboprops
- Jets
- Airliners
- Heli
- Gliders
- Lighter than air
…but also : - Single row seating
- Pilot/Copilot (Cessna-like seating configuration)
- Passenger
- Cargo
- Verniers or Levers
…?
Also, filters per “IRL Make”, “IRL Model”, “Developer/Creator” would also be good, I think!
I’m some sort of a Data Architect - so… Sorry! Sorting, filtering…
Agree. This would really help.
I can’t count how many times I couldn’t find my aircraft in 2020 because its name was not obvious (Carenado Pilatus PC-12 instead of Pilatus PC-12) and there was no consistency to the naming.
Not a big deal at first but when you have hundreds of add-ons it becomes a pain in the …
Yep, another downgrade of the sim, but for no reason I can think of.
I can see why MS would be reluctant to allow us to filter out certain developers. They paid for their products to be on the MP, so I can see why they would be less than keen to allow us to filter them out. For that reason I don’t think it will ever happen, they just can’t be honest with their reasons for this indecision, but I would applaud them if they just came out and said it.
Plane types though….yeah, let’s have that back please?
I thought Jorg previously confirmed this was coming in 2024. if so, why again another example of failed follow thru.
I had a solution to this for 2020 (https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/aircraft-manager-pro-location-manager-pro-now-available) which may not have been perfect but it solved the problem (and some others) effectively enough.
I could implement a solution to this for 2024 if MicroSobo hadn’t locked down the UI (and aircraft++) from modification this time round, for [reasons].
I can understand this as an initial release strategy to cutoff an inevitable flow of bug reports resulting from it, when they are already overloaded dealing with their release issues, but there is currently no timeline on when or if they will revisit this decision.
Users need to lobby MicroSobo to allow developers the ability to modify UI and other aspects, then we will be able to provide solutions for people to use the sim the way they want to (similar to the issues with Career missing a creative or open mode that allows toolbar apps).
I find it hard to locate an Aircraft in the Selection screen and the issue will just get worse as more Planes are added.
As people tend to use the same Favourite aircraft, it would be good to be able to Favourite an Aircraft and filter by Favourites
Also the Selection screen doesn’t show enough at any one time without scrolling
Voted. See,s weird to me there seems to be less aircraft filtering options compared to 2020 and still no means to favourite or rate aircraft so they are listed in a priority order.
This here is a classic example of the huge disconnect between devs and users. Such a simple, obvious and easy to code thing is ignored for 4+ years. I don’t know if it’s Asobo, MS or both, but ever since the release of FS2020 such basic usability and QOL stuff has been routinely ignored - G1000 key/simconnect mapping, touch screen support, many, many UI features such as this one, flyby camera, proper flight save/load - the list is endless. Much of this is so bleeding obvious that it should never have even been an issue in the first place.
I despair sometimes that most of this really basic stuff will NEVER be fixed…
