Hey, did you read the opening couple of posts in this thread?
HUGE numbers of bugs I posted were closed.
Will I let that defeat me?
No way.
Yes, I did. I just showed the link because it was kind of funny that N316TS mentioned it and I forgot that I reacted there.
As I said, you should do what makes you feel good. And I applaude you for not giving up.
I guess it not so much about what makes me feel good so much as I’m trying to help make the product a better experience for us all.
I guess the knock-on is I get to feel good about the difference I’ve helped make, but it really isn’t the motivating factor — getting things fixed is.
I’m known for this. I tell everyone in real life who knows me that if Armageddon comes, find me and bring spare parts.
You’re one of the hardest workers going when it comes to highlighting bugs.
This time though I think there are more fundamental problems that need addressing…
Many of the issues being seen are due to the lack of adequate server capacity - it’s not obvious, to me at least, that this can be easily fixed without a large investment in extra resources to provide the bandwidth that’s needed IRL. There have been some epic underestimates and bad assumptions,to get to this point on Saturday where there are still many users who cannot even get the sim to run properly. On Xbox, for everyone who says that MS/Asobo we’re targeting a console type game, the experience seems to be that no-one even considered Xbox users or even bothered to test the simulator on a real COTS Xbox.
This is a release that is not in a state where bug reporting would even help - it needs a fundamental rethink or even (dare we say it) pulled and relaunched next year. It’s gone that wrong.
For sure. “We” need the smoke to clear so we can truly assess the damage and go from there.
I can wait.
I hope you do - we will need your expertise…
I didn’t have FS2020 and have a brand-new PC with blazing fast internet, and I had issues getting on for two days.
At least in the 2 helicopters I’ve used in FS2024 today, I set the altimeter manually by rotating the knob at lower left of the instrument. Of course you must know the airport elevation, but that’s bit more RL than having a hotkey to do it automatically. Actually in the sim I never set my altimeter - it never seemed to be necessary.
Oh, yeah, for sure I nearly always rotate the knob.
Sometimes, I get a little bit lazy and hit “B”, and in this case did so and got a surprise.

Thank You so much for all your efforts! Makes the few hours I spent reporting little bugs, seem insignificant.
The thing is, this is nearly always inaccurate, because of this business:
Note, of course, not acknowledged…
I appreciate the sentiments, but I’m totally uncomfortable being recognized here for it. I’m not trying to be special or important or anything.
I just want to solve problems and make the sim better, because I love it and want everyone to love it, too. It has totally changed my life in such a positive way, I want others to have that sentiment, too.
I’m sure 2024 uses a lot of code from 2020. The 2020 code had bugs that were migrated to 2024. As new 2020 updates and fixes were released that fixed those bugs, that code was not migrated over to 2024.
Or the 2020 fix was incompatible with 2024 and could not be copied over.
There are so many obvious issues we have to question whether they have an internal test team, an internal quality assurance lead at all working on this game.
So many of the issues should be blatantly obvious (see VR issues for example) that they should’nt have to rely on us beta testers to help fix their broken mess of a product, it’s up to them to get this title to a decent state, then rely on community bug reports should they ever read them.
It’s so disheartening, they’ve really damaged the community with this release.
or just plain old apathy and confirmation bias
I don’t understand how some youtubers I watch can actually complete any flight. Ive tried flying the Max 4 times now and every time I get a CTD. This game is a complete joke. Why doesn’t the team understand that all we need is very base sim and leave the 3rd party people to build the best experience. This EFB is absolutely terrible. It will take then years to fix all the bugs in it and it still will not be anywhere close to Navigraph.
I’m being asked to verify a bug by a moderator
I’m verifying another bug for a user
I’m finding a new bug whilst doing the above
This, right here, is madness.
What are we doing? I should go fly 2020 and forget this.
Even the default F18 is bugged for me (losing electrical systems). This is insane.
Yep, the Pipistrel Virus is the same. I flew for 20 minutes and all electrical accessories – including avionics – died. Someone forgot the wiring for the generator.
Mind you, this is an aircraft that works without issue in 2020.
Same with F18, it was 15-20 minutes from take off and all electric systems gone. I loved flying that plane in MSFS 2020.
