Activation Wizard every time I start MSFS 2024

Every time I start the sim, I get prompted to select my narrator preferences, set up my controls and language, and customize my avatar. I have flown a few flights and they have not been captured in the log.

I have the same. Using Steam version. I have tried logging out and in of xbox apps, no fix. Coupled to that it doesn’t seem to be saving my flight hours.

I also have this issue.

To list everything I have found so far when I launch I:

  • Get sent through the “Enable screen narration”, “Start Setup” (Graphics, controls, language, assistance etc.) and “Customise Identity” (Character chosen in the previous launch is not remembered) process
  • See the “Oh! We know you [USERNAME]!” banner as I enter the Main Menu
  • Have lost all progress in completed activities (I have only tried: Flight Training > Basic Handling > Sim Controls + Aircraft Essentials, so I can’t speak for all activities)
  • Have lost all progress in the logbook despite flying around for a while (and having this correctly reflected as time in the logbook) during the last time I launched the sim.
  • Have lost all bindings that I changed from their default vanilla state. (This is also mixed with a tangential issue I am facing with bindings disappearing after every flight, so possibly unrelated)

It looks like the culprit is Gaming Services. After deleting it, reinstalling it and restarting my PC, all my issues are gone.

Instructions copied from Xbox Support below:

  1. Press the Start button on the taskbar, enter powershell in the search bar, right-click on Windows PowerShell, and then select Run as administrator.
  2. In Windows PowerShell, enter the following command and then press Enter:
  3. get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
  4. In the same window, enter the following command and then press Enter:
  5. start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN
  6. Install the app on that page and then select Yes when you receive the “User Account Control (UAC)” prompt.
  7. Restart your device and then try to launch the game again.
