Pressing “P” during a flight doesn’t appear to actually pause the game/sim.
I used it just now during a flight and my 747 started making all kinds of scary noises, then when I unpaused it, she did a nose dive straight into the ocean. Awesome

Active pause and autopilot do not work together.
You can assign keys to a “real pause” that actually freezes the flight. Set the filter from Assigned to All and you’ll find them. (“Them” because you need to assign different keys for turning this pause on and off.)
