Actors for Navi

Hello gentlemen…

I’m new to sim…a stupid question?

Are there several actors that offer premunications for Navigation?
I’ve seen Navigraph o Vatsim…and a few more
What are differences? More than the price?

I like the traffic flight…and fly it mostly right now!

But also small aircraft

What does this word mean? First time I see it.

Are you asking which software we suggest for navigation and flight planning?
There’s only one for me in that case: Little Navmap. And it’s free.

Hello
yes, kind of in that direction
Maybe I phrased myself a little poorly?

I have seen offers for Navigation. For which you can subscribe in Sim. It is Navigraph or Vatsim …and else others…

How many are there?
What is the difference between them
More than the price…of course

Most of the larger traffic plans that I checked on YT have the extra software for Navigation. Why do you have it? -Can you do so much more?

There are two points here:

Enhanced mapping/charts for situational awareness.

Access to published Instrument Procedures (‘approach plates’ airfield charts).

The in SIM VFR chart is the basic offering when it comes to a chart/mapping as well as the aircraft avionics suite. Many will opt to use something like LittleNavMap as it offers far more functionality including the ability to create and edit flight plans, use different map layers and see other AI or multiplayer traffic. LNM is free. The are other chart/mapping options including Navigraph.

In most parts of the world digital versions of published Instrument Procedures are also freely available via the countries electronic Aeronautical Information Publication eAIP). You can download and view the ones you need as PDF files. This can be a bit of hard work finding them. Searching for them is made a bit easier by websites like ChartFox or if in the USA SkyVector.

Navigraph also offers access to the Jeppesen version of these published procedures, with the added advantage of being able to display your aircraft position directly on the plate and also layer it onto the background chart or map. With a comprehensive database, plus many other useful flight planning tools, many choose Navigraph. It sure makes life easier, particularly if you have reached the level of competence to go flying airliners on vatsim. But is isn’t necessary and definitely not when first learning to fly.

If you’re a casual simmer, don’t bother paid applications.
Some simmers really want to practice all procedures, including flight planning.
Some simmers just want to see where their plane is on a world map so that they can learn which city or river they fly over, or as a navigational tool, like I follow the highway to the next city and from there a river to the east.
What is also neat is that once you make a flight plan with departure and arrival and some way points in between, the nav app gives an elevation chart so you can see how high you need to fly to be safe.
So yes. It opens up a whole new can of possibilities, or worms, depending on how much extra time you want to out in the hobby.
So if you want to fly and enjoy the scenery, don’t bother. If you want to put extra time in your hobby, you could think about Little Navmap to try out mapping a route, exporting it to pln and import that in the sim. You can find many tutorials about this.

Have fun :flight_departure:

Thanks for the tips…
I will google and search on the subject…

  • I have time…Because I am retired

Back 20 years ago…was very free on Msfs…Which has changed over time.

Enjoy the journey, but take the time to progress.

Some people think they can jump in an A320 and go fly on vatsim and then get hurt and confused when they get bawled at by ATC.

It’s all great! You can fly just casual with all assistances on and start on the runway.
Or you can prepare for hours and start on a parking spot cold and dark and tun all the checklists…
There’s something for everybody.
Enjoy the ride (flight)
