Add-on update policy

Absolutely. I was about to post something similar.

The OP has valid concerns in my opinion.

I agree with you.

Now you have learned how the dev works, maybe just don’t buy from them again?

Well, it is a limitation of the store, not the developer. The developer will gladly help you out in this case, just contact them.

Then write your complaint about the store to the store… or rant here. Or do nothing and get nothing. Its up to you, i dont care, i tried to help, but getting help doesmt seem to be what you want.

Just once again: inibuild store, orbx, simmarket, contrail: all these are able to provide the new version with a discounted price, but you decided to buy at the only store that doesnt offer that, cuz marketplace is the worst of all the stores out there.

But again, your bought product will forever live in your content manager and is downloadable forever there.

No, surely they havent done this 10 times…
We still dont know which dev he is talking about, but at this point he is just exxagerating and ignoring the facts…

What limitations in the marketplace are you talking about? There are examples where developers offered version 2 at a discount to those who bought version 1. And don’t come up with anything for me - I’m not swearing, I’m just expressing my thoughts on this situation. And why is the marketplace the worst store? I mean the current moment. Justify.

Can you name the examples, because i am not aware of any discounts given to existing customers in the past.
I have only seen general discounts to everyone.

The Marketplace is terrible becaise of the publishing and update policy.

In every other shop i can get my update the same day when published. In the MS-store i habe to wait - sometimes for weeks.

Same goes for new releases.

I also dont like that I can inly download while in the game and being capped with the downloadspeeds that are terrible at times.
External downloads are often faster and time efficient.

And another reason is your case. While every other shop is giving the discount only Marketplace doesn’t.
For whatever the reason is, it is clear that it is not the developer who is not willing to give a discount as the only variable that changes is the shop.

I dont lile the UI either. But that is a matter of taste, i guess.

In general I prefer to buy from the developers directly whenever this is possible. No dependency on any shop and all my money goes straight to where it belongs.

can you show me these examples? I dont know of any.

Altho i dont like your attitude here at all and you are just raging instead of accepting the provided solution and being thankful, i try it a last time, after that im out, as your intend is definitely not to accept the fact that the developer is willing to give a discounted price to the Marketplace users, just follow these instructions:

You still havent told us about which developer the discussion here is about, im still assuming its MK Studios, right?

I think (?) ORBX offered an upgrade price for a version 2 of EGLC London City Airport on the Market Place to those who bought version 1 of that Airport.

I say ‘I think’ because it was a while ago. Nor did I buy it FWIW so I might be wrong.

This is correct!

Thank you. It was a while ago

According to ORBX, this isnt true, it doesnt work.
They just tried something with a bundle to get around it.

I now got confirmation from MK that they can only discount via a license transfer, as the Marketplace doesnt have a feature for a discounted update for existing users.

As i always said, a store limitation… all other stores have this feature.

Am I wrong in thinking the 2024 Marketplace presentation showed provisions for this?

I thought I understood that would be a future feature.

Maybe I am conflating it with other new aspects of the 2024 Marketplace.

I’m sorry! You are right!

That was why I bought the UK2000 version of EGLC, which did have the additional taxiway, and I think was cheaper too. Not going to reward OrbX for re-releasing an existing product as a V2.

Here are two examples. I guess that’s all for now. Since there aren’t many “2” versions yet. And it doesn’t look like a common practice among developers. For me, the marketplace is convenient because, having a large number of purchased add-ons, I don’t have to track the release of updates. What you write about the marketplace probably refers to the first years of its existence. They seem to improve the update speed and other things. Jorg talked about this in streams. Yes, they have limitations. That is known. For example, it is impossible to hang weapons on military aircraft. I knew this and therefore bought the addon I needed from another store. Overall, I have no negative feelings towards the marketplace. The only thing I didn’t like was their latest price adjustments for different regions.

I didn’t buy the ORBX version, so the price of the set is higher. This set is for those who bought the first version. But even here you can see that the discount is almost 40% and not 25%…

You have not understood the essence of this topic. I am absolutely calm, but you need to be more restrained. I do not like the option, the tendency, when they will try to sell us the same product twice or three times, even with some improvements. Yes, you have indicated the developer correctly. And I know all your instructions, as well as links to stores. But thank you. I will not buy from them with a ridiculous discount of 25%. And from my side, this will affect all other developers with a similar policy. Yes, the old version is available, but they will not update and support it. And in the long run, it will become useless.

Folks let’s stop the back and forth comments.
Keep your posts to the topic!
