I don’t think I have seen this question asked or answered, but is the expectation that 2024 will retain a “drag and drop” installation for mods like 2020, or will all add-ons be required to go through the Marketplace or some kind of “official” freeware hub/portal?

^^^This is the big lingering question after the last “update” which speaks only of Marketplace.
Good question. I think it would be a mistake to remove this feature. I hope they keep it. I see no reason for them to change it, since they wouldn’t make any money off of freeware “sales” anyway.
It doesn’t say just the marketplace. From the FAQ;
“With very few exceptions, virtually all add-ons that work in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) today will function in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
Add-ons that were purchased from the in-simulator Marketplace will not need to be re-purchased in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.”
That says to me if an add-on currently works in MSFS2020, it will work in MSFS2024 regardless of being in the sim marketplace or not (with very few exceptions). And then if you brought an add-on from the current marketplace, that purchase will auto translate to MSFS2024.
But that is just speculation based on what I’m reading and as someone who is in the business of public engagement.
Are they planning on having some sort of Q and A soon for the new sim?
