Add trim to H125

Since it has now been confimed that no trim in H125 was intentional, this is now a wishlist item.

H125 should have an option for trim. In many controller environments, flying this helicopter without trim is very aggrevating. My understanding is that H125 helicopters do have trim in real life, so it seems very fair to add this feature. It is a quality of life improvement. If people want to simulate a version without trim they can just not use the trim feature.

Wonder what the purpose of this is…

It’s ridiculous that we have to explain Asobo why Helicopters need trimming or force trim release.
Absurd.

This is the trim release.

This is the trim people want, but the H125 doesn’t have:

Not really the same thing.

Yeah, I got that. I meant that according Asobo, their version of the H125 doesn’t have any form of trim . Trim release doesn’t work for me either. Does it work for you? I have absolutely no option to trim the thing.

Right, fair enough, that’s probably why the helicopter doesn’t need trim. However, is it possible to use force trim on all types of controllers? Given this is a simulator, if it’s not possible to use on the controllers most people use, we need some sort of trim feature that actually work.

Trim release doesn’t work either on the H125, at least not for me.

It doesn’t matter whether the real H125 has trim or not.

You can’t reasonably fly simulated helicopters using typical (as in almost all) consumer joysticks without it.

Asobo’s response to this has genuinely ■■■■■■ me off more than anything else since 2024’s release. I don’t understand how they can be so apparently clueless.

While it’s hardly ideal, I tried this and it works. My stick has trim wheels for fixed-wing aircraft, so I mapped those as secondary cyclic inputs.

I just checked, TRIM RELEASE does absolutely nothing on the H125. So no matter what kind of trim your are looking for, realistic (TRIM REL) or not realistic (ROTOR TRIM), neither is modelled so guess I just need to go to the gym in order to fly this thing for 2 hrs straight…

So, technically, the original bug report is actually a bug? I mean the plane does have trim release and it doesn’t work.

I’m curious if the dev team has had a chance to experience the simulator from the perspective of a dedicated flight simmer. This might provide valuable insights into the user experience.

I would say so, I tried every key binding related to TRIM REL and nothing works. I can see the TRIM REL button on the stick being pressed so the key binding is correct, but it does nothing, I can’t release my stick to center and release the TRIM REL button. It does absolutely nothing.

I was always aware this helicopter does not have an actual trim (like a HAT switch), I thought the bug report was about the TRIM REL not working and I assumed Asobo meant that this helicopter doesn’t have any form of trim (hence my question, wonder what this button is supposed to do).

So maybe it is all a misunderstanding and Asobo isn’t aware that the TRIM REL function does nothing. At the moment, there is absolutely no way to trim this helicopter.

I saw a Youtube video with another key binding called QUICK TRIM, no idea what it does (probably nothing), will try tomorrow.

There is a workaround apparently:

Or maybe this is for an actual force feedback joystick, that isn’t clear to me.

They are selective in how they play the realism card. Force trim release works great in the game for both the R66 and the Guimbal. But neither helicopter is actually equipped with force trim. At least be consistent. If the dev team wants to be real, be real across the board and make all three helicopters nearly impossible to fly with the input devices 99% of users use.

Completely agree this needs to be an option - some form of trim is absolutely needed, I have a 10-15lbs spring on my joystick, holding nearly (or in some cases full) forward stick just to fly 5 minutes is crazy tiring,

Whether all the other helicopters having some form of trim is accurate or not in the consumer market this is a requirement. I’ve re-installed the Cowansim A-Star and will do everything I can to fly that one instead (basically everything but required career missions) until a trim option is available for the built in 125

As someone with chronic hand pain this would help a lot. I just don’t even fly this helicopter at all because of the no trim. There are some planes that don’t have aileron or rudder trim but if you map it sometimes it will force it anyway. So forcing trim to work with this heli seems fine to me.

wild to me that they didn’t even play this heli for 30 mins to get a tired arm to know that it needs trim if it has it irl or not … get with it guys test your game at least a little bit 30 mins is not that much to ask of testing on a heli that’s a major part of the career mode … ffs

I agree that it should be added, even if it’s not present in the real aircraft, since using controllers with conventional spring centering, i.e. almost all controllers plausibly used in a home environment, necessitates some way of moving the controller center point.

I can’t think of any aircraft that is flown with an Xbox controller in real life….
