Addon Aircraft in Multiplayer - How are they handled?

So far I know this:
If a person does not have a particulate aircraft installed, it will be replaced by a generic model in multiplayer to represent said missing aircraft.
No low-level LOD mesh is transferred between participants.

What happens with aircraft which are installed, though?
Does the simulator recognize the 3rd party plane and display the matching mesh with sound if it is installed on my computer?

The reason I ask is that I‘ve never ever seen another player flying a 3rd party plane during my multiplayer flights.
Sure it might be, because I‘m still missing that particulate aircraft model…

Does MSFS2020 differ between 3rd party stores and the in-game store?

if both players have the same aircraft/liveries installed, it will display correctly.

For them to show up correctly though, you can’t have the ‘use generic aircraft models for players’ enabled in the settings.

It looks like the confusion is in how where you buy an aircraft affects how it appears to you - particularly if you buy an aircraft in the marketplace and someone else buys the same aircraft direct from the vendor.

It’s my understanding that aircraft in the marketplace are given different identities from aircraft on the open market so you don’t see each other properly. I haven’t seen Microsoft/Asobo explicitly state this is the case so take it with a grain of salt but pretty sure this is the case. MS/Asobo have clamped so hard on the marketplace they may strangle it.

The marketplace is also slow to update. Everything takes something like a 3 week approval process so for things like aircraft that get updated a lot, might think twice about buying aircraft there.

There’s no difference I’m aware of between aircraft bought from one 3rd party reseller vs. another. The difference is with otherwise same aircraft in the marketplace. Those still end up different.

The marketplace is handy and for exclusives like Asobo’s Top Rudder it’s great, but if a plane is available in the marketplace vs. third party reseller, I’ll buy from the reseller or direct from the author.

While that may have been true in the past, it doesn’t seem that bad anymore.

That’s good. Anything they can do to help the posture. The problems with the marketplace - like the planes still being different and not displaying properly - need to be fixed.
