AddonLinker for MSFS24

Hello,
I hope this is the right place to post this query. I’ve been using AddonLinker since MSFS2020 came out. I plan on installing MSFS24 today r tomorrow. I haven’t tried it, but I’m wondering if it’s possible to install a second instance of AddonLinker dedicated to MS24? My plan is to run both sims, separately of course, until all my addons work properly with MS24 and also when MS24 reaches the stability of MS2020. If it’s possible to install a second instance, it seems to me this would be the easiest way to move forward. If it’s not possible, then what would be the best way forward using one instance of AddonLinker? Looking forward to your thoughts. Thanks all in advance.

That’s what I would like to know too , very good question , I presume its do able just not in the location of where your original is , maybe a different drive then copy them all to the MSFS 2024 community folder , whether that works or not ?

If not , what you can do I suppose is change the path in the options menu , but you would need to do that everytime when swapping sims , which would be a PITA !!

The developer has already updated the app to include an MSFS2024 exe.

In the ‘tools → options ->additional options’ page about half way down there is a ‘profiles’ section.

Just create 2 profiles, one for each sim by changing the target ‘community’ folder for each profile.

Now you can switch back and forth.

Looks like there are several good options to check out. Will take a look at the new exe offering from the developer. The Profile path seems like a great idea as well. Thanks for this.

I’ve just installed the new AddonLinker 2024 exe update inside my 2020 AddonLinker folder. I created a desktop shortcut and opened it. So far it looks like a complete new instance of AddonLinker so I believe I can start fresh with this and slowly add my addons as they become compatible. Should be no mix up or interference from the 2020 AddonLinker setup. (I hope) As the author of the software stated though, it is only day one and the release doesn’t happen for another 10 minutes or so. Of course I need to install the new sim before I will be able to determine the paths needed for the MS 24 version. Just thought I’d take a couple minutes to update the thread.

I am getting this error when trying to launch FS2024 with this app

I changed the community folder path. I thought that was all you needed to change.

Are you sure you are launching the MSFS Addons Linker 2024 exe version, not the 2020? No problem for me.

I just downloaded the latest version. Deleted the old and used the new version

There are two EXE versions, 2020 and 2024. Use the MSFS_AddonsLinker_2024.exe

That was it. No mention of this in the readme!!

Literally says so in changelog

I just tried the Addon Linker and, although it adds the link to my FS2024 community folder like in FS2020, the addon does not show up in FS2024 in my library. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks

Are you calling the Community folder your library? The link would be in your Community folder. The same as it was in 2020.

Yeah, I know. Well, the sceneries actually do work, but they don’t appear in my library within the sim.

The Community folder location in FS2024 may not be where you think it is. In the sim, click on the Marketplace button, then select the Library button. From there, on the right is a search box. Next that box is a Settings (gear) icon. Click on that and it will show you the Community folder. If you prefer it somewhere else, you can select a different folder location to use from that screen, or simply be sure AddonLinker is using that folder to link to.

Yes, when I click on that I see my community folder and when I open it, it contains all the virtual links from AddonLinker to where my scenery is located. But still, when I click on the library (installed → community folder), as you can see it’s empty. But the scenery is there in the simulator when I’m flying.

Yes, that’s been reported multiple times in several threads. It’s clearly a bug in the current version of the sim.

Ah, ok. Thanks

You should be given a medal for posting this. Thank you!
