Advice for MSFS 2024 on RTX 4050

Hi all,

I would like some advice before I buy Microsoft Flight Simulator on my machine. I did a search on the forum, but wasn’t able to find much information for similar setups than mine.

I play on Endeavour OS (Linux-based, and windows-only steam games all work through a compatibility layer called Proton, with minimal performance loss). Here are my specs on my HP Victus 15 Laptop:

  • RTX 4050 (6GB VRAM)
  • Ryzen 5 8645HS
  • 32GB DDR5 RAM

How well would the game run with these specs? Or is 2024 too demanding for what I have?

Thank you!

From my totally unqualified point of view, 6GB of VRAM is pretty low for MSFS2024

Agree with other post, VRAM your biggest issue here! Even with settings turned down it will eat 6GB.

Your best bet might be to use DLSS 4.5 and frame gen. Cap the frames at about 20 and use frame Gen to get 40fps. Then adjust settings for smooth flights. But it’s also tough to say exactly how it’ll perform

VRAM 6 Gb is not good. I have 4060 8GB and I am not happy with them in the current SU5 sim. My textures are on low, most of the settings are on low or off if I fly airliners and this Sim does not look good on low.

Your best route would be to buy an xbox gamepass subscription for 1 month for ~$15 (you can easily cancel it later). That way you can download the sim and play with it for 1 month with minimal investment. If you like it, then you can purchase it and cancel the xbox gamepass.

Happy flying :airplane:

I bought the game since it was on sale, and SU5 has it run very well! See my post on Reddit for details: https://www.reddit.com/r/MicrosoftFlightSim/comments/1t1r5s7/msfs_2024_is_now_playable_on_rtx_4050_thanks_to/
