Advice regarding the newest France Bush trip

G’day from down under.

I’m hoping to have a question about bush trips answered here.
I’ve completed 3 of them without a problem but I’m now doing the newly added trip from the latest France update that takes one over the Pyrenees alps. I’d so far gotten to leg 6 when I landed too hard in the Diamond 40. So I was instructed to start that leg again which I did, then I continued through to leg 8. I was planning to finish the trip by tomorrow or Sunday because I was getting too tired and it was getting late, so I exited to the main menu to check out my progress for that particular bush trip. I noticed that every leg had a check mark next to it except for the very first leg, yet I was able to continue the trip starting from the leg before I crashed. So, what I’m trying to understand is this: Because the 1st leg doesn’t have a check mark, does it mean that I have to fly the entire bush trip all over again? If the answer to that question is yes, then is there really any point in continuing from leg 8? Or should I just start from square one again or should I simply keep going? I’m talking about quite a number of hours of flying here.

While I’m here I thought I’d mention that this particular trip has some really awesome scenery along with a wealth of historical information dating back to the 1st century. It’s also got a rather challenging high altitude airport which is particularly difficult to find, let alone its rather high altitude and short grass runway. It’s somewhere around leg 5 to memory. I miraculously managed to land and stop the plane before hitting the hill at the end of the runway after 3 go-arounds within the very restrictive and monumentally tall mountain peaks; my heart rate definitely went up and I actually had the “jitters” almost akin to some pretty heavy real world training scenarios for my multi engine instrument rating (in Australia this rating is named “command instrument rating”). The French pilots who discovered the best way to navigate through cuts between such enormous mountains must have had nerves of steel! I’m sure quite a few pilots didn’t make it out to talk about their demise either!!

Anyway, thanks in advance for an answer with regard to my question.

Cheers and blue skies from Perth Western Australia

you can re-fly any of the legs you want. Although since this trip doesn’t have an achievement attached to it, you don’t really need to.

Just complete the trip, and if you ever feel like flying the first leg again, you can.

Since you’re flying this awesome bush trip, I’ll add a piece of advice.
When you’ll take off from Notre Dame da la Salette, the Navlog will instruct you to line up on a 192° heading for takeoff… that’s the opposite of the required heading which is actually 012°.
That should be obvious, but since those were the instructions I kept trying to take off in the wrong direction, crashing all the time

The 192 heading is not incorrect. Departure from la Salette is towards the south-southwest, if you look carefully you will see there is a clear slope. You need to start from the right side of the hilltop, not the highest point on the hill.
Taking off towards the north is extremely risky.

Just finished the whole trip and it was awesome! Great job Asobo!

Quick question:
Somewhere during the trip, I entered a direct to an airport, overwriting the whole flight plan for all the legs. Is there a way to reload it in the GPS?

I stand corrected. Looking at the charts you’re right :upside_down_face:.
Yet I crashed all the times I tried to take off to the south and only managed to take off successfully to the north, although admittedly it was sketchy .
I’m gonna try that again.

Just have a look around with the drone cam before attempting the takeoff, just like a real pilot would do  so you know what to expect once rolling

Btw, just found a wonderful youtube video with the landing and takeoff, as well as an alternative approach path…

I landed there to the north and took off to the south. No problem. I must have been lucky

Can anybody tell me how to land in the first Airport of Pyrinean? The one of grass in the mountain. I have made more than 10 attempts and I cannot land safe.

I get the route by the river leaving the track to my right to try landing from northeast (from sowthwest is impossible because the track is just behind the mountain, over the hiilside. Then I have to make a 180 degrees turn, but because the height of the surrounding mountains, I have to make it at least at 6000 feet. Then I try to align with the track but I have an obstacule that it is very high at that distance and that doens’t allow me to see the track. I don’t find a way to land safe there, so I cannot continue the trip.

How did you manage to land there?

Are you referring to leg 5? If so, look at the below thread. I have shared some tips.

Did you manage to land?

Yes, I was able to land flying very next to the left mountain and making a huge right turn. It was a hard landing but I was able at last.

im stuck on the leg in the canyon cant find the strip

I am stuck at La Salette. Landing perfectly and rolled up to top of hill to validate the leg. Following day, tried continuing the trip but the lfollowing leg doesn’t load :frowning: And to make matters worse, on several attempts loading, the plane crashes immediately on start. Any tips?

Put the sim on Pause and use the Drone camera to find the strip.

If you ended your flight at a location where the plane immediately crashes when you load the next leg, try to disable crash detection until you take off.
