Aerial ground tiles changing/popping in

I hope this bug gets prioritized somehow. I‘m not a fan of negative hyperbole but in this case I agree - it completely ruins the experience when flying low.

does somebody know if they adressed the issue or received questions about it during the live stream ?

I just did a follow-up flight to see if anything had changed around CMF2 in Alberta. Nope… still the same.

Yes. Split and the whole area around it are completely destroyed. Where there is a hill, now is a flat plane, and where is a coast line, there are extreme cliffs.
Please Asobo, fix this.

I think this strange cliff phenomenon is new. It was not occuring there before the Oceania WU. I’ve noticed this bug in other places, like smaller Greek islands.

Yes, that’s correct. The cliff problem is new. I only saw it yesterday, after updating the sim with Oceania.
Now a huge amount of the Croatian coastline is rawaged by this. Enormous cliffs where there aren’t any, as well as flattened hills and misshapen mountains.
It’s as if the whole elevation data for the area got corrupted.

P.S. That’s on Xbox Series X.
I tried to uninstall all the addons and updates, but the problem still persists. A friend of mine also confirmed the same, and he’s on PC.

Asobo, for the love of god, please fix this mayhem. :frowning:

After these cliffs morphing and popping as you move around or is it always like this? If the latter then better start a new bug for it?

They ARE morphing as you get closer to them and they stay the same as you circle around them.
My guess is that this could also be related to new Bing imagery being used in some areas. Just now it’s not just a problem with textures, but with elevation data also.
Quite a mess.

Croatia’s coast is indeed ruined in MSFS. Looking even worse after WU Oceania. It indeed seems to be connected to bugged elevation data.

I MAY have found a fix!
Maybe it’s not linked.
I have updated my dlss DLL (DLSS v3.1.1 released!). Since then, I have no popup ground textures.

Sadly, it didn’t fix it for me.

I used take-off at CMF2 airfield as my test environment.

Antialiasing: DLSS
Direct X versions tested: 11 and 12
Rolling cache: off

Intuitively, it just seems like something is messed up here. With all the recent NVIDIA driver version updates one would think that it would also include installing their latest DLSS dll version in the sim. But
it doesn’t. The 2 dlls are definitely different, but it still didn’t fix the issue for me!

Oh well…

If it was solvable by updating dlls, then us on Xbox wouldn’t have the same issues.
Sadly, I don’t think this is something we can fix ourselves.
I’m just wondering if Asobo is even looking at this with any priority.

I am thinking that it might not even be something that they are responsible for and/or can fix without some serious support from outside their organization. Thus they just remain patiently silent - like we probably should, too!

Tried flying across Malta, it happens everywhere with popping tiles changing. Hope a fix can be made.

I‘d be surprised if that was the case. I don‘t know when exactly it started, but it’s not that long ago. Before that it worked fine. So it should be possible to resolve.

As far as I remember they didn‘t talk about it.

They did not. As usual they swerved most questions relating to core sim issues in favour of plugging more new downloadable content. I don’t know why they don’t call them “marketing promos” instead of “Development update Q/As” as that is all they are now.

I was flying around Hokkaido in Japan and the tiles were popping in and out looking completely different.

I’ve just had an amazing flight over Greece, I decided to uninstall and deactivate Asus armoury crate, and I was able to push the sim settings higher than usual, also I disabled colour grading in the MSFS config file and I didn’t experience one instance of a terrain tile loading incorrectly. The flight was super smooth with no ctd, and one tiny stutter.

I have to test the same area with the colour grading option turned back on to see if that’s what has rectified the terrain loading bug for me, but, it was a very promising flight and a great experience, one which I’ve not had for a few flights now.

I haven’t encountered this terrain texture bug anywhere in Greece on XSX. Greece is fine. At least for now.
