Yes, this is seriously spoiling VFR now. It has been around for a long time and does seem to be getting worse. I have tried every setting available on LOD etc. and never use the cache. I really wish they would fix it.
Not just VFR. Any kind of flight is totally ruined. I fly airliners and this mess is like a punch in the face. It used to affect southwestern France, Isle of Man and just a few more locations, but lately, everytime I launch the game I dìscover new messed-up places… At least, that’s not an Xbox exclusive for once ![]()
You are right about Isle of Man with strange reddish terrain, but that was the only place with messed up textures before. Now it’s spreading like a virus, like you’ve said. It seems to be affecting European areas mainly.
So it looks like the servers are slowly rolling in new LOD0 Bing data everyday and the Devs are not checking if it matches with the previous ones or other LODs… I don’t get how this can be allowed to happen or how everybody is not noticing it yet
By LOD 0 you mean the highest quality textures, when you are closest to the ground?
Ok, please take a look at this mess: mountains near MMMY, Mexico. The green textures look like the low-res ones you can see zooming out in world map. It seems there is a big problem in hi-res textures loading. Could you please guys check this out? Are you experiencing the same issue? I’m on XBX, but I suppose this one is affecting PC users too…
Yes, from what I understood LOD0 seems to be the highest level of detail so textures far away from the plane are homogeneous (because low LOD) but there is a sort of circle following the plane and triggering those mismatching textures tiles that are supposed to be in higher resolution (probably why they are recent), but they clearly don’t match with the other lod levels. Maybe the problem is more on the blackshark.ai side and they mismatched the new textures or whoever is responsible of the data selection…
Same here. I had this problem after SU12. There had never been anything like this before.
Same here. I’m kinda shocked Asobo hasn’t said anything but they will once the LOD texture updates get around to the more commonly flown areas. They shouldn’t upload any bing maps data without a person looking at it first, that’s just… wow.
I uploaded a short video to better describe the problem. Flying in the south of France made me realize that’s not just a color mismatch, it’s a whole new set of data that is replacing the old one at the highest level of detail. The problem is that is changes mid-flight and moves with your plane. It completely mismatches the old set and ruins most approaches or departures, and low altitude VFR. When you fly away from the area, the mismatched data disapears and it will appear when you fly over it again (this was like my 5th time flying over the same area).
Rolling cache on-off changes nothing, as well as manual caching.

It’s not everywhere but if it’s affecting more and more areas in France and Europe everyday it seems. The South-East of France seems to be entirely affected by it also…
It’s also very visible in the world map over the same place I was flying :
So if you see some texture patches like that in the world map, it will trigger tiles popping in flight over the area !
Since Su 12 I noticed the same issue.
DX11, AMD PC.
Ditto for me, on PC using DX11. The popping is very noticeable when flying low in helicopters.
I recall running into quite a lot of this issue when I was experimenting with the Google Earth mapping add-on. In fact it was mostly for that reason that I gave up on it.
But until the latest SU12 version of MSFS, all was good. Can’t say that now.
But I am a bit disappointed that it has garnered only about 75 votes, so far. Is it possibly being tracked in another thread?
I’m baffled at this lack of response too. So many areas, especially in southern Europe, are ruined now by this bug. I have made a short video demonstrating this issue that’s been going for months now.

When a topic is bug-logged (such as this one), votes are no longer needed. You may still vote if you wish, but not required. A bug logged topic means the development team was able to reproduce. From that point forward it’s in their time frame to work on a fix.
Sorry. I think that’s the 2nd or 3rd time you’ve told me that. Maybe this time it will stick?
Where is it? Thanks
LDZD - Zadar
Oh, sure. Croatia, Albania, Montenegro, etc. are totally unplayable now…
