Aerosoft CRJ, better late than never!

The CRJ 700 came out pretty soon after I bought MSFS, and I had already spent a fair amount on add-ons (namely the JustFlight Arrow III and the Zenith CH701) and I didn’t feel it was right to buy a jet yet when I still had plenty of “low and slow” exploration to do, plus the CRJ (especially the longer newer versions) wasn’t one of my favorites anyway.

However, a couple months later I was graduating to faster, more complex aircraft and getting up the courage to learn the WT CJ4 and FBW A320 mods, becoming more and more comfortable with their navigation and autopilot systems. I had some more money burning a hole in my pocket, and it was getting clearer that there wouldn’t be any other payware jets of similar quality to the CRJ coming for a while yet, so I finally pulled the trigger, and I’m glad I did.

I have to say this plane is the jet equivalent of JustFlight’s Arrow III, it has a similar beautiful weighty and satisfying feel to the controls. And learning the Collins ProLine FMS on the WT CJ4 helped prepare me a lot because it’s more or less the same. It feels like a refined, less twitchy (but still plenty responsive) version of the CJ4, plus it has the fun visual features such as opening doors that I’m used to from other payware planes.

So for anyone who’s still on the fence about buying it, I recommend going ahead and getting it. It will definitely be in my top 5 for quite a while.

I feel comfortable on the CJ4 and am working the courage to fly the CRJ.

You will love it, they feel like brothers!

I think the CRJ is a great way to get introduced to jetliners. The FMC is easy to program and there are not too many steps to to get up and running. It flies a lot like a nimble and sporty prop plane and you can feel the small but noticable size difference between a larger prop plane like the grand caravan and the CRJ.

I definitely recommend giving the CRJ a try…you won’t regret it! Don’t feel overwhelmed or discouraged and refer to the forums and YouTube videos for guidance. Soon you’ll be impatiently waiting like me for the PMDG Boeing’s

I agree, despite a few issues that remain in the CRJ, and are hopefully getting patched after the next QU, its one of the best aircraft out there for complexity.
