Having now done several flights in the Twin Otter, unless I’m doing something wrong or missing something, I’ve found the NAV hold temperamental and the APR hold equally erratic. When intercepting an ILS I would normally switch to heading hold and just as the aircraft approaches the localiser beam I press APR and would expect the lit APR to take over from the heading (extinguishing HDG) as the localiser is acquired, but that doesn’t seem to happen. It seems the only way to make APR work is to acquire the localiser via the nav hold and then switch from NAV to APR. As for using NAV mode in GPS this seems equally hit and miss. As I say I could be missing something here, but the NAV/APR does seem to be very temperamental. Any ideas please?

You might want to search flightsim.to or GitHub for GNS530 mod. It improves approaches etc.
