Hi,
are there any sources for aircraft flight manuals, especially performance charts, specific to the simulated (GA) aircraft? I find performance charts to be a major prerequisite for serious flight planning.
I could probably google me the afm of some of the more popular GA Aircraft (C172, C152) - but it wouldn’t be specific to the exact simulated version, year of construction, state of installations and modifications, etc.
You don’t have to be that picky, I have a bin full of manuals that I got over 10 years ago and they work just fine. With the 172 just look for an S model and 152 like a 1978 model. I think the 152 in MSFS is a Reims built and may differ slightly.
I used to do tech pubs at a major airframe OEM, so I understand what you’re looking for - an AFM, not a POH or FCOM.
Short answer: that doesn’t exist for MSFS and likely never will. Better off using data off a POH you might have lying around somewhere.
Long answer: there is a lot of information to cover for the tail-specific, weight and balance, equipment list, normals, emergencies, limitations, performance etc.
Truth be told, so much of the basics are INOP, with updates flowing out over time, there would be so many revisions, temp changes and superceded information (assuming the functionality works in the first place, which is not a given.)
The basic MSFS checklists barely suffice. I doubt they have enough data to generate the full book, much less running afoul of copyright infringement for the original.
