Okay, I’ve read all of the comments up to this point - and not anyone mentioning dating, an expanded sim engine for “smart branching”, etc. 
Anyway, jokes aside, I like this topic a lot !
For me it is possible to see all games and simulations having that ability, let’s say a feature for the access to a mega merger of some sort at one point. A decade from now, why not.
Who knows.
The fact is we cannot even dream of all the innovation that will be the thing 10 years from now, that my teens will play with. More innovative concepts and interaction methods that we from this point in time cannot grasp that easy - say trough the augmented reality solutions with 3D holographic technology with a full tactile and sensory interaction, etc. Just take a look at this short video clip and give yourselves a ride on your creative imagination like the OP has done:

I personally start from a point in time back in 2008. I had my engineers setup a contract with an ISP for a direct 10Mbit/s Internet optical link for my company - that cost me something like €1.000/month.
Of the full bandwidth, I had 1Mbit/s routed exclusively for my home…
…10 years later I have 1Gbit/s. That is 1000Mbit/s… for my home. As part of a casual family subscription plan. With 2 VoIP lines with a bunch of free minutes…and a 4K digital TV content delivery service with an endless VOD database and every TV station/channel imaginable.
Literally a THOUSAND times faster…FIFTY times cheaper !
Including the rich set of services and technology that either just didn’t exist due to it not being possible or not in anyone’s wildest dreams - or was considered an early stage/experimental/commodity stuff.
Dear folks, honestly, let me tell you back then I’d consider all of that together with this simulator as it is today a complete and utter insanity…like…mental asylum material !!
Yet, we take such stuff for granted now, don’t we ?

Well. It was a great addition together with the GEX, ORBX, UTX, REX, scenery, autogen, landclass, mesh, weather, sky, clouds and lighting and snow and rain and turbulence and wind and stars and my grandma addons…
On this day I actually installed the new Mustang, and here is the screenshot I took right away (while being completely shocked at the framerate and the flight plan that would sometimes just delete itself mid-flight…but it all got patched really fast in a few months):

- But 10 years later and ooh the scratches on the window! Ooh the whole planet trough my not anymore 1Mbit/s but (whatever)Mbit/s home net! Oh well…
