After latest update, cannot even start the game

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: Installed the latest world update, Japan. While installing other updates, MSFS2024 totally exited the game and offered no error messages. Upon rebooting, there was also no option to run is safe mode.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you? During every start up

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Latest update did not finish installing

  2. Verfied Steam integrity of files

  3. Re-booted my machine

  4. Manually put MSFS2024 in safe mode

  5. Using the CTD walk through offered by Asobo, the only option is to uninstall 1.8TB of data.

Team, I have tried the recommended CTD walk through, but nothing helps. I am also running the Orbx library tracker and Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS with Virpil pedals.

So, if I may ask the group, what is required to reinstall the game? I have downloaded 1.2TB of terrain and do not look forward to re-downloading that much data again.

I have verified the Steam integrity files and they all check out. I can stop the Orbx and re-install, but I suspect it was a corrupt patch update. But, since I cannot access the game period, it’s hard to verify and re-update.
