After not using MSFS for a while: Substantial scenery improvements once again

Did you notice the great improvements of the scenery since yesterday ?
At least in the Bordeaux area, La Teste de Buche, and southwest of Germany and Switzerland.
Even ship wakes, ocean currents, seasonal changes,
runways no longer completely covered in snow, rich contrast, excellent photogrammetry…
and much much more. In short: a living scenery.
The improvements are so well done, - I was stunned again.
At first sight I felt as flying in 3D. The scenery came once again much closer to flying in real.
Thanks, MS/Asobo !

bye, walter

Was there an update recently that I’ve missed?

No updates (apart from beta users), most likely the OP got better streaming and thus it improved the visuals as has been known to happen.

Are you on current beta or public release? Beta was updated yesterday.

I thought that too, thank you.

Topic moved into the Beta forums as there hasn’t been any updates to the public build of MSFS at this time.

No change seen on my fibre connection and fast PC. Sounds to me like your local circumstances have changed for the better. If this improvement continues then it may be worth to run a speed test on your internet connection .

…maybe a Bing Maps update?

A server-side update?

I’m not a beta user, only devmode is on. Just trying the sim out again I think it’s still “experimental”.
As side effect, I can no longer move the world map .
Also striking was the additional diversity in fauna colors now.
Overall very promising, but not 100% functional now on my machine.

Sounds like the OP opened up the sim after not having done so in a while and got some updates. This has nothing to do with the Beta at all.

Moved into General Discussion and altered title.

There seem to be some ongoing improvements on the landscape and photogrammetry in USA, Europe etc. I flew low across southern Germany a couple of days ago and I had the feeling too that there have been improvements. It‘s probably Bing that gets and shares better data.

California up to Oregon looks incredible as well.

Maybe Father Christmas. Seems clear now that there hasnt been an update from MS.

I’m just guessing Blackshark AI got some more presents to crunch on for christmas and has been working 24/7 to get some work done before the devs come back from the holidays.
I doubt we only get updates like the world updates, i’m thinking in between certain area’s get an upgrade here and there as the data comes in from various sources and has to be adapted to work with msfs. So, the original poster might just have struck a bit of gold in his area. MSFS is still very much a “work in progress”.

At least seasons have not yet been implemented. There must be other reasons for the apparent colour shift in your visual apparatus

Yeah. As I was saying… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Well, the snow effects were added in 2021 :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, but as far as Switzerland is concerned the snow effects are totally overdone now

Yes, I think it is !
I found these awesome new effects in the former homeland area of Asobo, - around Arcachon (Airport Teste de Buche in France). Maybe it’s Asobos area P 51.
On my machine it’s not working flawlessly yet.
Compared to the older scenery it could become a revelation.
For example flying along the shore lines of for example Carolina,
the ocean shows the same boring constant texture as far as one can see.
Now, In the Arcachon bay area I see how the depth of the ocean is beeing reflected in the simulation ,
which gives the interesting and lively stucture of the ocean currents as seen from above.
Just one example.

Bye, walter
Have much fun in Asobo area P51 !!
