So yours is probably not the GPU in that case, so not sure what to suggest. If you scour this thread it seems the majority of users impacted will tell you they are flying an airliner of some kind, with a notable exception of a TBM.
One working theory is that it to do with WASM modules. Is there a list of planes that don’t have those, or perhaps a list of those that do?
It’s true that most guys report to have this degradation issue after a longer period of flying. But there was somebody in this thread who also reported having problems shortly after launching. Someone else admitted they started to experience this issue exactly on Jan 1st, which is also my case. Before that date everything was running without any problems. It’s really the weirdest thing and, answering your question, in my case it affects not only WASM planes, but also default Cessnas.

That’s what I suspected would be your case. I can’t explain that at all, as its not my experience. My specs are in my profile, but I never had this issue before I upgraded from my 9900K/1080 either. If you open the FPS viewer in Dev. mode, what do you see as the limiter? It should be the one in red, with the highest “ms”.
I get a message I am GPU limited the moment this degradation starts. But then again I read a little and it seems it doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with GPU. From my understanding it means that GPU is the bottleneck in my system? What’s weird is that it happens only after a few minutes after launch and then when I exit to main menu all is green again and fps jump back to normal numbers.
Funny thing …
at monday my 6900XT arrived (swapped my 3080Ti) and performance degradation was literally gone
Setup:
R7 5800X
32GB DDR4-3600
1x 4TB NVME SSD for the Sim and Addons
1x 1TB NVME SSD for MS WINDOWS
ASUS X570-E Strix
and so on …
But with the 3080Ti these degradation problems seems to re appear for me, on the other hand some of my friends have these issues with AMD GPU’s as well
I would assume that it must be related to either the Server or the Flightplan. Because that are the only variabel things.
I had fps los one time right at the Gate, also had it midflight. Other flights up to 5 hours were without problem.
And the only things that are different for the flights are weather, Traffic and Flightplan.
Are you in the beta? If not try the beta.
Guys, I found the solution to my issue! It all makes sense now. Turns out that my MSI motherboard had some update on Jan 1st. It switched my system performance to SILENT MODE by default. As stupid as I am, I did check my BIOS settings and computer energy mode and they were all set to high performance. However, I didn’t think of verifying motherboard setting through MSI center. As soon as I switched to HIGH PERFORMANCE mode the fans started spooling up as they had done before, GPU stopped being hampered by overriding setting and everything went back to normality. It’s worth checking in your systems if Jan 1st did not bring some updates of this kind in your systems too!

Congratulations. I’m glad its sorted. I guess my hunch was sort of close in that its on your end not MSFS.
You were definiely right about that, thanks! What misled me was that benchmark which showed perfectly fine operation. I guess it just overrode motherboard setting and I had no way to realize it at the moment.
Right now i’m 3 hours in a 4 hour flight with the FBW Airbus, no problems until now.
Strange incident
All the Hardware (X-touch, Keyboard) lost power. Normaly pc isn’t allowed to Power off the devices.
Moved the Mouse all came back to Live. But the sim was frozen.
In Taskmanager it said does Not react.
After 2 or 3 Minutes all was well again and the flight continues
Flight finished
3h 40min
No further Problems
I’ve done 3 flights so far and the performance has been ok for me.
Since this thread has lost scope long ago. Last week I had a lockup during a longer flight. I didn’t wait it out. Max 1min and kill. In June, had a lockup in menu. I believe it was a windowing issue which is now fixed, I was alt+tabbing. And not a single CTD for me to this day. Consumer hardware is also unstable. Natural radiation etc. And never trust power settings
USB power is complex and devices do their own magic.
Did you do something on your configuration to get you back to a normal situation?
I have this issue almost exclusively in high northern lattitudes I’ve noticed.

I assume it’s the weather fix, they did on the 3rd. Storm clouds on the ground popping in and out and all that good stuff. I didn’t do anything. Didn’t notice any game updates either. Vanilla + Neofly. I’m not claiming it’s fixed. I’m a very small sample.
What is the status of this issue?
t seems server-side, so I don’t know if they fixed it yet and we still don’t have live weather and the performance degradation

Live weather is working currently.
Has anyone investigated if either of the cashes (rolling/manual) have anything to do with this? Probably nothing, but it’s worth looking into in my opinion.
literally just tried this – i’ve been playing with rolling cache off with no problems until January 1st. For the heck of it, turned rolling cache on, still broken.
Attempt #3 - Community Mods, because we know you’re on here and love to delete any negative factual feedback, can we expect transparency tomorrow in the developers update that the sim is broken since January 1?
