After SU10, FPS still drops during flights

After 2 hours flight time the FPS is getting worst after stable 30fps all time landed, parked at gate frames decrease and lot of stutters when changing views. what is this?? Temps totally fine!

I Wonder if the new SU will help. I have had the Beta installed and have had mixed results. Some flights are fantastic, and then the occasional flight is terrible again.

I do not change any settings and monitor the GPU/CPU and frame timings. They are never maxed out and never get even slightly hot (GPU 60 degrees, CPU 50 degrees)

Still the performance / smoothness seem to be directly connected to the load on the MS servers. One day its like Im having the best computer and everything is smooth, the next day things are choppy, stuttering etc - sometimes a bit up in the air too. So - I think MS really need to throw some logs into that fire, and fix server speed. =)

I have just tested this again… did a round trip from an airport to another and then back. On the return lag, i could still see all aircraft stacked on top of each other at the center and fps going down as i apporached the airport to again 2-3 FPS… so still no solution to this…
Tested with FSLTL… this does not occur when using Asobo live traffic. So still on the simconnect side

Been having this same issue for about a year now. Tried all the tips mentioned. Sometimes it would fix it. Sometimes not. Usually happens after about 4 hours and gets worse until an eventual CTD. I usually would fly long haul with the 787 and 747-8. But about a month ago, I started messing around with the Cessna Citation Longitude for shorter flights. I decided to do longer flights with the longitude and the degradation started again about 4 hours in. However, something weird happened here. On final approach, the performance instantly came back and remained good for the session, however at the same time my instrument displays partially locked up (IAS, TAS, GS, Altitude, Heading). The map was partially frozen too, however, when using the zoom knob, the VOR’s would react, but not much else. I’ve attached a screenshot of me stopped on the taxiway after landing in Santorini and highlighted some things that stood out to me.

Huge Mainthread spike on Final. This is the biggest issue Asobo needs to fix.

This is with a 5800X3D and a RTX 3080Ti.

If I reload at the same airport

Having same issue. Not a long flight slightly over 2 hrs EPWA-EGGW with pmdg. On final drop by 7fps on capped 30fps in results main gear to replace not possible to judge flare with this. I thought that Luton is some buggy I did same route but EGGW-EPWA. No frame drops all the way to takeoff but at EPWA same story as on EGGW not possible to land properly. I started to have this issue since I moved from CRJ to 737 and do longer flights.

Same for me. Can’t do return flights back to the original airport. If I do, performance drops to 5 FPS on final.

This issue, of stacked AI aircraft at center of origin airport on return (with consequential FPS drop, often to unusable levels), is reported in this bug here: "Fixed live traffic planes getting stuck at the center of the airports" Not Fixed

Okay, that makes sense. Thanks for the linking. So I have two problems now  The one mentioned after the link, where I have single digit performance while returning to the origin airport (starting with a distance where AI traffic may be visible) AND overall performance drop during flights - for example after landing at LOWW and taxiing to gate C33 I have 27/28 fps and loading a new flight under same weather and traffic conditions gives me 35/37 fps at gate C33. Will have to investigate and analyze a bit though.

From testing, it’s clear that any form of airborne AI causes issues. Try disabling AI Traffic Density in Traffic settings.

Other than this, SU11 looks good to me.

This is super frustrating.

This issue was largely solved in SU10 for me. Prior to SU10 I would encounter this FPS drop on certain long-haul flights only.

After SU11, I now see this on every flight above a certain number of hours. I have discovered that if I turn off “Real Time”, adjust the time slider, then turn “Real Time” back on (in the weather menu) the FPS go back to normal.

Unfortunately I have the same problems.
A transatlantic flight (Germany-USA or Canada) is not possible for me. Frames drop from just under 50 FPS to 25 FPS on approach to Boston/Washington/Toronto. I always use the Salty 747. When I take off from these airports, the frames are at 50 FPS.

Same here. After 1hr of flight the FPS are slowly decreasing from 40-50fps down to 6!!!

Using A310 or A320 makes no difference. Both start detoriating. After a restart of the flight all is fine.

As commented on some posts above, I tried the following after an FPS drop during a long haul flight (about 4.5 hours in):

  • Turned off live weather, then back on
  • Switched off from “live” time a bit, then clicked on “live” again

Doing this seems to have fixed my FPS for the remainder of the flight (which was around 7 hours long).

Hopefully this is a consistent workaround, as I have only gotten to test this solution once.

EDIT: On an interesting note, the FPS drop seems to have immediately gone away as soon as I switched off of Live Weather and into Clear Skies. I wonder if the culprit is Live Weather after all.

God I thought it was just me.

Same situation here, had done few long flights recently, all are 7+ hours flights, FPS will drop over 40% - 50% after 4 or 5 hours then, I switched to Dev mode then see, Limited by Mainthread, relaunch the game at the same landed airport everything just back to normal.

From what I noticed, probably because the cache data, when I changed some settings with virtual memory early today, things got better, but still drop a little, playable.

As reported above, turning off Real Time and Live Weather, I am able to fly long-haul without FPS degradation.

Super weird finding:

I did a few test flights with both Live Weather and Real Time ON. FPS progressively got lower as expected, however I found that if I hovered the cursor above the Toolbar (without going into any of the actual menus), the FPS shot right back up and stabilized again. What gives?

Thats a very weird finding! Will report back if I can recreate It. Interesting!
