After SU14, I can't start a hotstart from opposite end of a departure runway

Before SU14 (PC), my steps to fly simple hotstarts from opposite end of a departure runway were to:

  • Find and select departure airport in World map
  • Select opposite end of desired departure runway
  • Ignore blank settings in Arrival airport portion
  • Make changes to flight conditions only if desired
  • Click FLY until spawn at desired runway position/heading, no problems ever

With SU14:

  • Changes are reflected correctly in World map after selections have been made as above
  • After clicking “FLY”, hotstarts are always spawned at original position/heading
  • This also happens after setting a VFR/GPS round trip, selected departure heading is ignored by the Sim
  • In other words, now all of my world file departure runway position/heading are ignored
  • Performing the steps in differing sequence makes no difference
  • There are no saved flight plans in the main “LocalState” folder
  • Community folder contains only one aircraft, but this also happens with default aircraft as well
  • Being unable to find forum postings about this with SU14, issue is probably at my end

Anyone here have any suggestions for a reason, bypass, or fix? Thanks

Hello there! Try this: Go to Options >> Assistance options >> User experience >> ATC enforce flightplan = ON or OFF. (If enabled ATC will follow the departure and arrival specified in the flightplan; if disabled ATC will decide the active runway and approach depending on current conditions, including weather and performance.) This new feature was introduced with SU14!

That’s a good new feature, I missed seeing that in any of the release notes.

Good suggestion, but no change even after all of those options are set to Off.
Thanks anyway, and still hoping for more good suggestions.

This issue is back with SU15 Beta, I can’t select the opposite side of the runway I’m noticing today. ATC Enforce Flight Plan is OFF in assistance options.

I’m using MMPR (Orbx) and the Horizon Sim 787.

That option should be set to ON, not OFF if you want to start on the runway you’ve decided in the flight planner.

Great that fixed it, the wording makes one assume the opposite. ATC Enforce Flight Plan, as in ATC Enforces the Runway… but alright cool! Glad that worked!

Thank you!

Yes could be confusing, you should read it like this: ATC enforce your Flight Plan

Or even “Enforce Pilot’s Flight Plan”, which I think would be more intuitive
