Well I was going to fly the icon to james Bond Island…but it doesn’t seem to be there right now.
I can remember the awesome scenery in that area when bond was flying to scaramangas hideout.
This was in a “Man with the Golden Gun”
Hopefully someday, the data will be there to explore.
Is this the same island that was used in Lenardo DiCapros’ The Beach ? Somewhere in asia near or part of Thailand ?
Not sure if it was used for The Island but it’s called Khao Phin Kan and yes it’s Thailand.

As far as I can tell, it’s not even there. Then again, for all its plaudits, MSFS has completely failed to capture anything of the wonder of SE Asia’s magnificent limestone islands and coastlines (not to mention the almost total absence of its stunning low-lying coral shores). It just can’t do it. Either the terrain is insufficient or the texturing is borked, or some combination of both. It’s the same pretty much everywhere, from Thailand to the furthest-flung islands of the Indonesian Archipelago.
This has been, and remains, my single biggest disappointment with MSFS. It’s great that some N. American and European cities look amazing, and all, but fly to some of the world’s less-travelled regions and the illusion soon breaks down - we’re back to some vague approximation of reality, not too far away from FSW’s completely fictional version of this world.

Koh Phi Phi Leh is the island used in ’ THE BEACH " good mocie if you havent seen it.
FOUND IT its a bad representation of it but its direction and bearing from islands that match up fits…
theres like thousands of islands in Asia… perhaps someone should make a list in order of the islands we’d like worked on first .. Its kinda weird how some islands are completly ignored.. bad satellite data , bad weather ? weird. I dont expect something to be perfectly rendered but if its on bing maps is suspossed to be in this game right ?
There’s a cloud on that island above, and that’s often enough to trip the AI scenery generator into excluding it from Flight Simulator. Many of the missing airports are the result of this.
If something isn’t right with the scenery, the Maps app from the WIndows Store is a great way to check to see what’s going on at that location because Flight Simulator is pulling from the exact same data.
Somebody who is passionate about Thailand, knows the area well, and enjoys creating scenery for Flight Simulator would need to add these islands. They’d know the most popular or scenic spots to recreate. I don’t think Asobo would ever get around to creating scenery like this, they probably wouldn’t do it justice not knowing the area, and the game engine itself needs to be redone in order for their AI to do it.
