AI Traffic that when you see mid-air disappears when they get close to you.

I guess you are referring to Live traffic and not AI traffic (that from my knowledge does not work in the sim) isn’t it ?
Same issue with live traffic on PC, sometimes on ground also

I would say yes they are “AI” live traffic based on real time traffic from FlightAware as mentioned here: Aircraft Registration Number Matching - #2 by CasualClick
