AI Pilot always on

Suddenly it happens that when starting a flight the AI Pilot is always set to on no matter if i have set it off at the flight before. Any hints are welcome.

Turn off the AI Pilot setting from the Options → Assistance pause menu. Not the one from the Flight Assist menu from the toolbar. The ones you set in the Options Assistance menu are permanent.

You can set everything to Hard/True to Life and it should prevent the AI Pilot to always come back on when you don’t want them to.

The only AI assistance option is for ATC. Not flying.

Did the update change that setting?

No, it’s been like this since at least SU5. I have the same issue as OP. It’s insane.

Did you also turn off ATC assist from the assistance option as well? Are you talking about the AI Piloting or AI ATC Assist?

I’m saying that the only AI Assist-related option in the Assistance option is with regard to AI help with ATC. There is no master “AI pilot on/off” toggle for example.

What assist option are you referring to?

Sorry, I meant to reply to OP… OP mentioned about AI Pilot is always set to on. Since the AI Assist has a lot of sub-functions, AI piloting, AI ATC assist, AI Rudder Assists, AI Checklist assist… etc etc. I was suppose to be asking @lc4c with which of this assist is an issue for them.

Because I never had any issue with any assists as long as I keep the Assist in the Options → Assistance menu under Piloting to Hard/everything off. So AI Assist never turn itself on its own when I start my flight.

Even if you already turn off the AI ATC Assist from the toolbar Flight assist menu, it will still enabled itself on the next flight because you might have set the ATC assist enabled in the General Options → Assistance menu… not the one on the toolbar.

Respectfully, I don’t think you’re understanding OP’s issue.

When OP loads up a new flight, cold and dark in a parking spot, the “AI Piloting” toggle under “Flight Assistant” is on by default, independent of True-to-Life settings in the Assistance options. Within a moment of loading into the sim, the AI will already have turned on the engine in an impossibility short amount of time. Obviously this is a problem if you want to start cold and dark yourself. If you start on a runways, the AI will have already revived takeoff clearance and will start rolling down the runway before you have a chance to turn it off.

There is no “AI Piloting” toggle in Options, only the in-game “Flight Assistant.”

It’s a bug: I experience it myself intermittently for a few hours about once a month and then mysteriously vanishes.

Just to clarify. In the assistant option only atc assist is set to on. Since the small AIRAC update yesterday the AI pilot in the toolbar is set to on always a new flight is started. That behavior is new

Yeah, I never had that problem. My AI Pilot toggle under Flight Assistant menu is always off for me, during cold and dark on the parking spot, or anytime else for that matter. Even starting on the runway it was never on for me.

I had the problem after using AI pilot and it continually loaded Ai pilot at startup.I solved it by making sure to close Ai while still in game after use, that was the only way to stop it repeating for me.

I have this problem intermittently too. I’ve got into the habit of turning it off at the toolbar before switching the batteries on. That way it’s not asking for pushback before I’ve even loaded the passengers! I turn it back on when taxiing.

So right now I managed to get everything back as it should be:

Set all assistant option to realistic (off). Start a flight at a parking location cold and dark. KI pilot in the plug in menu off. Quit the game. Start again cold and dark. No automatic KI pilot. Start at the runway. No KI pilot. ATC in the assistant menu to on. Perfect. Even after reboot the MSFS erveything is like it should be.
