Airbus issue with engine 1 start

Just wondering if anyone has the same issue I do starting engine 1 on all variants of the Airbus - default, inibuilds, FlybyWire, LVFR and Fenix. I have no problems with engine 2 but when I switch the starter to engine 1, it spools up briefly, and then that’s it, no more progress. I am certain that I have followed all the relevant steps, including turning on all fuel pumps in the overhead panel as well as starting the APU master, APU starter and then, after a few minutes, the APU bleed. With all this done, I have no issue when switch the starter to engine 2, which spools up to correctly but, after switching to starter to engine 1, as I say, it never progresses beyond 2 or 3 per cent and then no further.

I do have a lot of peripheries, including a full set of logitech panels, Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo devices. I wonder if this is the cause of the problem. I have removed all the bindings for the Honeycomb buttons but, from within MSFS 2020, it isn’t possible to remove any bindings for the Logitech panels. However, I do leave all of the switches in the off position and, since they do not seem to function with the Fenix, Inibuilds or FlyByWire a32x aircraft, and don’t seem to interfere with Engine 2 start, then I assume they do not interfere with the A320 instruments in the sim.

Anyone experience similar issues or have suggestions about how to overcome the problem?

Cheers
Mike

What exaclty do you switch to engine 1? Are you maybe turning the white switch know to the left? If so, no need to do that. That button has 3 Modes Crank/Norm/ IGN, START. The only lever you move to start Engine 1, is the grey/silver start switch to the UP position.

Yes, I always flick the starter switch to Engine 1. The engine simply won’t spool up

and the engine mode knob (white turn knob) is in which position?

I do everything according to the book. When starting engine 2, I flick the switch to the right, then switch it to the left for engine 1. Engine 2 spools up correctly but engine 1 starts but never gets beyond a few % - not more than 4, at least. It’s just weird.

Ah, now I see what you mean. I misunderstood what you meant. Of course, the switch has three positions. Only one of which is ign/start. I assumed the the switch should be flicked to the left to start engine 1 (crank setting!). I’m just dumb, sorry

Oh boy! How long have you been suffering with this silly mistake?

Yeah, thats why i asked… just leave it at IGN/START for both, then back to the middle…

Yes, it was a daft mistake. Easier than you think, as the default view I often have of the ignition/starter switch is top down, so the view obscures the “crank” text.
