Yeah, that’s not how it works. You can’t install just the base sim, or any specific upgraded bundle. You simply install the base sim, and when you launch the sim using the same Microsoft ID/gamertag used to buy the upgraded version, any additional content is supposed to be available.
But there’s still plenty of us missing either bundle content or a slew of Marketplace aircraft content, all of which should also be available for people who own the Aviator Edition of course, including the Caribou.
I searched for and chose to install the Aviator edition (I’m on PC), so I’m not sure what you mean. I had the choice of all of the editions, and that’s what I installed. I have all the Aviator edition planes, plus the Marketplace aircraft I purchased, which isn’t many, but includes the Carenado planes.
It’s pretty funny how messed up the library is. I can’t wait to see what happens when they allow livery packs for 2020 planes to be installed on Xbox. Hopefully they figure out the issues by then and “fix” the necessary files. It’s not like it was hard to see what will happen based on the changes they made. Somehow, they didn’t realize how haphazardly aircraft.cfg files have been written to this point.
Go ahead, search for Mooney if you own it… or search for Amphibian.
It’s like, didn’t anyone even bother to look at the Library at any point?
I mean that before FS2024 launched, I purchased the Premium Deluxe edition. In the XBox App on my PC, when I went to the listing for either the Premium or Premium Deluxe edition there was no option to install. Rather, the XBox App showed them both as “Content Available In-Game” with no option to install content separately.
And indeed, on launch day once I could finally get into the sim, my Premium and Premium Deluxe content was (mostly) available. However, there were items missing, which have become available over time. I think all the PD content is there for me now but absent making a long list to cross-reference, I can’t be 100%.
What I can be 100% sure of is the Marketplace content which is not present: the Caribou, the Staggerwing, the Beech 18, the JU 52, the Tri-Motor, the AN 225 and at least some of my scenery. And yes, I know MS has pulled the plug on scenery streaming, but before then - and after - some of my scenery never made it into FS2024.
Yes, I was one of the lucky ones who trusted Aerosoft to deliver when they said they would. I only got my code a couple of days ago, which, really, is just as well.
I"m still not seeing any MSFS 2020 Deluxe or Premium Deluxe content , or getting any messages about updates and restart to get them. MS Support tried to tell me I had to wait for them to pass compatibility, and initially refused to understand that I was talking about a possible account issue instead, even though I’m using the same gamertag.
There’s been no communication that planes are being rolled out in waves geographically, afaik it’s very soon after they pass compatibility you should start to see it show up. I saw someone on twitter boast
Good for them, but it is a little annoying to see while I’m not seeing any and trying to convince MS Support to actually look into it. I can handle them coming in dribs and drabs, as long as I know they’re actually coming. I need them for add on dev testing at some point.
I only have the MSFS 2024 standard package planes (and community), as I took a punt (correctly as it turns out) and just went standard this time round.
Wondering if anyone else has the same issue I have?
The more aircraft i look for, the more i realize I’m missing. I bought a ton of planes recently in 2020 once it was announced that virtually everything would be compatible. Very disappointing.
I reached out to msfs support and was given the canned response.
" We are currently reviewing the carry-over content from Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.This review process also includes content from Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Deluxe, Premium Deluxe and Aviator Editions.
This process is ongoing and will continue in the coming days. We appreciate your patience during this time. We understand the importance of backward compatibility to our users, and we are working hard to make as much content available as quickly as possible. We are proceeding carefully, as our top priority is to provide you with the best simulation experience possible.
Once carry-over items and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 additional content have been reviewed, they will become progressively available in My Library.
From what I have read on the Aerosoft forum, its core developer Hans Hartmann still insists he has been working on an update for CRJ for a long time and still claims so not too long ago.
But he is working on one project after another without actually releasing anything actual patches not even any progress report…
It does feel like he had actually abandoned it without admitting. And what worse is by not admitting, it would discourage other developers from making a CRJ for 2024.
If he went on to a new project rather than updating the CRJ after 2024 bug fixing, then I would say it is 100% dead.
Honestly, I don’t even dream of any ‘study level upgrade’ he promised a long time ago. I just wish he could migrate the CRJs as what it is from 2020 to 2024 and make sure the existing functions are working properly…
Now with the newest patch that added the ‘disabled’ status for incompatible yet 2020 contents. What about also adding all these not-yet-ready marketplace aircraft into the 2024 library list with a ‘disabled’ status rather than totally missing, so players can rest assured that it wasn’t missing due to some marketplace bugs?
This just in: my missing MSFT/Asobo marketplace aircraft - the Caribou, the Beech twin, etc. - appeared today. The premium/deluxe MSFS2020 aircraft are also still unavailable. That, at least, I get, as most (maybe all?) of them are redundant given that there are 2024 native versions available to me. (I have the 2024 premium deluxe edition - I’m not sure whether some or all of those 2020 planes would be available if I didn’t…)
The only major missing aircraft for me is the Azurpoly Transall. (And, of course, all of my marketplace airports aren’t there… which is HIGHLY annoying, as some of them are my most frequently-used airports…)
