Is there any way to place other airplanes that are in my MSFS hanger (Asobo or purchased) on the airport so that they are seen when I taxi around, takeoff/land, etc.?
Does this have to be done with the SDK?
Would there be licensing/copyright issues?
Can a “3D” plane obtained on the internet be placed on the field? What file type would be required?

In the aircraft.cfg file there should be a number of settings including:-
isAirTraffic
canBeUsedByAITraffic
If set to 1, the value is true and (I think) the aircraft will then appear as AI. There may be other things that come into play, not least if they are Marketplace aircraft, you may not be able to get to or edit aircraft.cfg for a specific model, but there’s no harm in trying.
You’ll need to restart the sim after making any changes.
Sorry, I misunderstood your original question. I’m not sure how you could use an aircraft model as scenery without converting it, which would typically require copyright permission.
