If my PC doesn’t have enough resources I can try to update it but if in the area where I live the Internet connections don’t go beyond 45/48 Mbps what I have to do? And I don’t live in the Sahara desert…
This thing only correct on Mobile lol, not Console or PC
Same here. I live at rural north of Spain (León) with 25-50 mb/s… dinero casi tirado.
Working 50% of the time would be great if you were a baseball player. Batting .500 would get you into the Hall of Fame Not so great for a flight sim.
Throttling by isp provider maybe an issue eventually. I don’t the data usage tho saying that
Perhaps for some. Those of us who’ve invested in the CPU, GPU, and storage to run FS20 at its best (and by corollary, FS24 even better?) Not so much…
I agree 100% with OP. All aircraft should be on my local drive.
In Content manager you could trim down that installation with uninstalling content that you rarely needed.
I’ve had zero issues with streaming aircraft assets, although i do have a good internet connection
I do expect they will allow local aircraft assets soon though. It makes sense as many fly the same handful of aircraft over and over again.
i think part of their reasoning was so that they could fix bugs on the fly
insteaded of having to wait to put together some sort of update together with a bunch of other stuff
this way they can fix small bugs on live
or at least that was the plan!
Is it not the plan though that once it’s all set up properly that you can choose to disable, stream or install content? So that should mean that we can install aircraft and keep them locally instead of having to stream them. It just isn’t working right now
That is the plan indeed. We just need to wait a bit instead of assuming everythign is going to be broken forever.
Further to my reply, this will mean that people with low storage (Xbox series S for example) and gigabit internet connection should be able to enjoy much better performance than they could if trying to store locally while those with bad internet but loads of storage space can also be ok
Edit: And if you’ve got low storage and bad internet then do what I’m having to do right now and stick to flying the Cessna 152
Series S user with a very good internet connection here. So far, the same things that tripped up 2020 (heavy airports, the pre-AAU3 a320 V2 and a310) cause CTDs on 2024. My flying’s presently restricted to small airplanes and manual flying (toggling cursor knocks the aircraft off course even with AP on). I am still hopeful that the former is due to packed servers and the latter can be fixed.
My first flights on Tuesday (when I was able to get into the sim) were in the C152. I was mostly using it to get basic control mappings set and get used to how the UI works. I had some very pleasant flights around Chicago and New York. It’s a nice, docile flyer and great for VFR sight seeing.
Yeah your good internet is being choked by the servers at the moment. Hopefully once that’s all fixed it’ll be better than 2020 for series S
I’ve had good fun being back in the C152 and doing patterns. But only been able to do a few flights as my internet is pretty bad coupled with being in the UK with all the server issues that come with that
But a lot of that 500GB would be scenery, airports and other objects, which make a lot more sense to stream than the aircraft.
Several buildings that don’t get streamed, ah well, no big loss. But parts of the aircraft & cockpit not rendering properly due to server load? Yikes.
I’d sooner be faced with the option of simply purchasing more storage than playing a sim where every aspect of it is in immediate jeopardy the moment servers begin to run “hot”…
I’m going to say that aircraft streaming has its place, but I do think you need the option to download, as well.
I own dozens of planes. I fly maybe three of them. But sometimes, it’s nice to take something else out for a spin. I would like to download the three that I use the most and keep the other ones off my head drive.
I ordered the Limited Collector’s Edition, which means I won’t be able to play MSFS 2024 until late November or early December. But I do believe that you were supposed to be able to download some aircraft. From the sounds of this thread, it seems that that’s not the case.
If you’ve been around for some years then you know Microsoft does this from time to time and it never pays off. its why I got my money back till they fix this. That’s just it.. Microsoft or someone gets so bent they will not change it. No matter how bad it does.. they will stick it out.
Placing all the simulator and the planes allows above all to avoid copies. Because if the external developers only make their products available on the FS2024 Store and they are distributed in the Cloud it will be impossible to find them on certain dubious sites and more financial losses for the developers
