Hi. Decided to open the topic after experiencing the same behaviour recurrently (nearly every landing).
I use the Thrustmaster pedals, no assistances, and with the Maddog or with the inibuilds right after landing it is incredibly difficult to keep the aircraft in the centerline since it wildly swerves left and right. I have tried reducing the sensitivity of the rudder input significantly but still same behaviour.
It happens with or without crosswind.
Anyone going through the same?
Do you have the same issue with any other plane types, like props and turboprops, twins or otherwise?

Do you have this problem when the wind is calm?

Hi,
first of all, thanks for answering @hobanagerik & @ClouDAction
I ran a few more landings and take-offs with the Maddog, both in clear weather and with gradually increasing crosswinds.
My conclusion is there is an over-dimensioned effect of the crosswinds even a low speeds. I don’t think it is natural to have such a tendency to drift into the wind even a low speeds and at 40-50 ton.
The veering I feel now is more of an effect of overcompensating with rudder pedals. I tried to have a more stable approach (even allowing myself to land off center, nearly on the grass, just to test the veering) and with a more gentle rudder control it is possible not to veer as wildly but definitely very difficult to stay on the runway as well. It seems to me it s either gentle rudder but off road or stronger rudder but crazy veering.
What do you think?
The sim does suffer from exaggerated weathervaning. I would look up the SDK options for adding static friction if the Maddog doesn’t already have them.
There are two options for static friction for main, and nose gear. Then there are two for controlling at what airspeed the plane starts to experience crosswind, and at what speed it experiences 100% of the crosswind.
The last two always felt like something of a cheat or crutch to me.
Isn’t the weight of the plane balanced by lift?
Just because the wheels have touched the ground doesn’t mean the wings aren’t flying. Put the aileron upwind after the touchdown. It can make a big difference. Maybe watching some YT videos on crosswind landings will help.
Enjoy! (:
