Airport Ambient (Environment) Sounds Are Too Loud

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

The ambient sounds that play in the general area of any moderately large airport are too loud and cannot be turned off unless you mute all environment sounds. Coming from someone who works at an airport, it never sounds like the constant jet engine noise that is played in the background of the sim. It’s so loud that if I open an aircraft’s door or window, I can hear it over the engine and wind sounds while airborne.

This happens at any moderately large airport, plus quite a few small airports. Please give us an option to mute these artificial engine sounds.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

At any well established airport, all the time.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

  1. Have “Environment” volume slider unmuted

  2. Go to an external camera view, or open any door/window

  3. Listen for the loud jet engine sounds, even with no aircraft at the airport

Yes, I can hear those jet sounds even at a glider airfield:) I have to mute Environment sounds completely from the beginning.

Yeah this is a problem.

The sounds are tied to, of all things, the TYPE OF RUNWAY SURFACE at the airport. There’s no knob in the SDK to turn them down, off, or replace them.

The tiny little airports i’m working on should not sound like a major international hub when you’re panning around… yet here we are.

Asobo pls fix.

I never knew they were tied to the surface type, that’s crazy! I hope they listen to us.

We need to be able to turn aircraft ambient noises off and keep wind/rain on.

I found a tiny airport that has one 5,200 foot runway and barely any taxiways, but it has the jet engine sound effects that make it sound like an international airport… I would love to see this topic receive attention from MS/Asobo.
