Airports in the UK World update

The airports for the UK world update have been announced. The problem is… I can’t understand the name of the first Jorg mentioned. (update, solved)

Here’s what I have so far.

  • Manchester Barton (EGCB)
  • Liverpool John Lennon (EGGP)
  • Land’s End (EGHC)
  • Barra (EGPR)
  • Out Skerries (EG78 thanks @sidFADC)

What’s the first one he mentioned? I attached an audio file so you can hear it.

What a bizarre choice. It’s literally a runway. I guess this means Shetland is getting repaired.

Funnily enough never heard of it myself (I’m from North west UK) but interestingly I did land there the other day as part of a Shetland tour I was doing using the excellent shetland freeware mod! Very coincidental!!

Yea, it’s pretty much like them picking Friday Harbor for the US update. Small, out of the way strip.

Jorg did allude to the fact Shetland is getting some love, so out with the freeware and in with the official stuff!

That Shetland mod is mine. Most of the airports are upgraded and I’ll continue to do that so I’ll bin the infinite landscape repairs and it’ll just be a straightforward prettification.

I’ve done the same for the Channel Islands. Surely they can’t be leaving them as is.

It’s pretty funny. I’ve done every single airport mentioned.

I’m really happy we’re getting a UK update but it’s tinged with a little confusion as 3 of those are already some of the most popular & best freeware airport/airfields done…

The Shetlands generally need a LOT of work done to them regarding height of terrain.
