Departure Airport : Ten different departures that converge together at the end.
Duration: 2.5 hours – 3.0 hours
This event is like few others. We will take off from all over, and all finish at the same airport to end the event. And if I have planned this carefully, we will all arrive at pretty much the same time. You fly the plane that you like, (as long as it will follow VORs). Only a few things are missing. You won’t use Simbrief, you won’t be in the latest glass panel airliner, and you won’t watch the airplane fly itself. Each of us will have a list of navaids to pass over to get to the end. I will NOT give you a MSFS FLIGHT PLAN, that you can just load and run. We will actually navigate. You can make it as REAL as you WANT it to be! And LIVE WEATHER is ALWAYS encouraged.
Here’s the DEAL, select the departure location that matches YOUR aircraft speed category. You will get a list of instructions. Take off from that location, and actually fly the flight to the end. Easy, huh? Think you can fly on a VOR course? SHOW US! And one more thing, DON’T mixup a plane / departure with a mismatched faster aircraft, or you will be at the end way early (or very LATE). Without further reading, here are the start locations for each speed category.
Alaska 1 - Nikolai (9AK3). Cessna 152, CH-701, MXA, VL3, DV-20, Slow Copters, or 85 knots
Alaska 2 - Salmon Lake (Z81). Cessna 172, PC-6, DA40, XCub, Seminole, Virus, Beaver, or 126 knots
Alaska 3 - Wasilla Creek (05AK). Cirrus SR22, Extra 330, Nardi, Kitfox, PA-28, RVs, or 150 knots
Alaska 4 - Prospect Creek (PAPR). DC-3, DA62, Kodiak, Bonanza, Cessna 207, Cessna 208,
Cessna 310, Caribou, Twin Otter, D18, Mooney, Skymaster, AT-6, or 185 knots
Alaska 5 - Gambell (PAGM). Cessna 414, Skyvan, C-46, Smaug, C-22J, or 200 knots
Alaska 6 - Inigok (4AK1). Beechcraft Baron, or 250 knots
Alaska 7 - Red Dog (PADG). Daher TBM 930, KingAir, Mitsubishi MU-2, Scrapyard, DC-6, or 270 knots
Alaska 8 - New Aleknagik (5A8). Cirrus Vision Jet, ATR, Blksqr KingAir, Horus Beast, or 300 knots
Alaska 9 - Wiley Post-Will Rogers Memorial(PABR). Cessna Citation CJ4, DO 31, or 350 knots
Alaska 10 - Annette Island (PANT). Cessna Longitude, AN-225, C-17,
PMDG – Justflight - Aerosoft Airliners, or 454 knots
Note: Asobo Boeings and AIRBUS are excluded, as they can’t fly VORs. Warbirds are out due to failure to navigate. Pick a NUMBER and load in at that location!
