All clouds gone

New this morning November 24 at 10am Pacific Time after the patch. I haven’t “reloaded the game”, but I am used to getting clouds that I can see when I want them. I will start from scratch later today to see if clouds come back on their own before I put the bug report on Zen Desk. Maybe it is something I did.

thanks.

Clearly this is a disconnection of the live service. Not sure others have this issue. Maybe make sure you’re online and on their server.

So you haven’t restarted and updated after the patch rolled out. Am I understanding you correctly here?

The game has had an update, please update and report back. Hint you have to update from the game store otherwise you get please insert game disk error. Load the sim and it should download a 12.75GB patch.

I got the patch this morning. Loaded up fine. I also went and got some of the new US assets.

After restarting the game the answer is the same. No clouds. I am talking about the static user configured scattered and broken clouds. These should not need a national weather server. Snow works. Aerosol density works.
When I ask for some clouds, only the haze or aerosol density goes up a bit.

Preview shows clouds and rain, ingame it’s clear sky.

I belive it is a bug, I have had a few flights with clear sky, restart the sim and the clouds are back.

Yes, for one flight, sigh.

Disregard.

People asked me to check my “general - data” settings for my problem with no clouds. I am on line, (I can see the headlines in Bing), in the game I have “on line” functionality, remote weather is on, my caches are normal, no daily data limit, bandwidth is 40 (same as all year) and so on. I would like to know… are the generic scattered and broken clouds supposed to be generated inside my machine or does a remote server “draw” them and send them down to me as scenery objects??? I can’t check this for myself now as I have no clouds at all.

Turn off live weather in the flight options and it will be using only your pre-selected weather.

I turned off “on line weather”. For broken clouds, I get only haze, particulate matter, that I can get rid of with the slider. I have no clouds that are puffy and localized.

I don’t have to have them; I am not training for instrument approaches, but they are fun to look at.

Have a good holiday, everyone. Maybe we will fix this next week.

Left click in windows icon (down left in your screen), scroll down, right click in ‘Microsoft Flight Simulator’. Hover your cursor above ‘more’ , left click ‘app settings’ scroll down press ‘repair’. It fixed it for me, it will probably fix it for you.

Weather had been working well for me for a few days now, consistently giving me “live” weather. I won’t go into its accuracy to real world, but at least it was dynamic with varying conditions. Since I don’t play on online networks like Vatsim, I’m typically happy with that.

Then with yesterday’s patch, I’m back to weather working only on the first flight, and giving me the default clear - 29.92 - 225/5 for all subsequent flights, even with Live Weather manually selected before a flight.

This has been a pretty consistent thing for me for several patches. Weather starts working right 4-5 days before the patch. A new patch comes out which breaks my weather, forcing me to restart the game between flights. Then a few days before the next patch is due, it will miraculously start working again, only to get broken again by the next patch.

And the cycle repeats.

I clicked “repair” and the little checkmark appeared. I will come back later this morning and try launching the game.
Thanks.

Clouds work now. Thanks for the repair tip.

Maybe we have to click “repair” after each patch. Easy enough.

Repair worked. I have clouds.
Thanks.

Maybe they weren’t downloaded? Who knows.

Restart your system. That helps.

After the Dec 5 mini patch, clouds are gone again and are not restored by pushing “repair” in Windows. So. No clouds for a while. I can still fly.
It isn’t a job, it’s an adventure.

Dec 6 after a couple of more cycles of PC off and on and more attempts to repair the app, still flying with no clouds.

I have tried a variety of image quality settings short of Ultra. I can’t do ultra on a gaming laptop.

Typical FPS is 15 with thread limitation.

If your fps is that low (15 typical), then adding clouds would make it unusable.

Perhaps the sim has reached the minimum it would consider acceptable, and removes features to ensure you don’t go even lower. Pushing the settings higher would just make it worse - have you tried reducing the settings (except clouds) right down, so that you get a decent fps (at least above 20)?

Just a thought.
