Dynamic mission generation. There is a whole world to explore, not just famous scenery.
If the missions are like MSFS 2020 challenges, the new sim will get dull very fast. Plus downloading missions from users who create them won’t allow the simulation to be as cohesive.
No more need for third party programs to bind all planes functions to your controllers.
The UI in general is really bad. Fall out from having to run on a console I’m sure, but it’s not great when a flagship Windows title has a bad UI.
I hope they completely overhaul it. Maybe using an actual or native Windows interface instead of some clunky third party Direct3D GUI like they’re doing now.
That would be cool, but I hope folks don’t get their hopes up. But given what’s already been delivered, I’m expecting FSX type missions, which were a lot of fun once or twice, but then you went back to doing whatever kind of flying you always did in the sim. Anything more will be a pleasant surprise. A full track from student pilot to ATP would be ultimate, but probably vastly more work than they want to undertake.
I keep picturing an AI driven ‘mission’ or ‘job’ system that pays attention to what you fly and where you fly but it will offer ‘jobs’ that fit your chosen ‘pilot lifestyle’ Like if you want to be a cargo pilot and you fly small GA all the time, it will offer you small cargo loads and suggest flight routes based on your average length of flight. Like truck sim but it learns from your behavior.
Maybe Im reading too much into what was said by Jorg about the social learning AI thing.
default regional and smaller airliners
not make it just Boeing and Airbus airliners, get some classics in there like BAE, Fairchild-Dornier, Saab, and Fokker
You all are big dreamers my wishes are simple for a flight sim:
AI that somewhat works. SimConnect and SimObject limitation don’t cause the planes to not show up on a return to an airport with heavy stutter. Just like it was working in FS2004!
Clouds that have/create turbulence. This was not an issue before SU5 and we did have turbulence in clouds! Now the clouds are just for the looks (in the real weather/live weather mode) and they have absolutely no impact!
Airport runway and taxi way lights that are not “On” all the time and they actually work based on the weather conditions and natural lighting (day, night, etc.) just like the old sims!
ILS and PAPI lights that actually lead you to correct elevations on the runway (50 feet above the threshold)!
Better optimized Sim (i.e. proper use of DX12, CPU cores, etc.)
Proper ground contact/friction modeling! A large plane shouldn’t sway like a mini car on the runway and taxiways!
Proper modeling of ground elevations and objects so that the objects don’t show up in the air when an airport is not flat!
Resolved terraforming issues around the airports.
This is a very grounded and well thought out list of items which i believe will have significant impact in terms of sim experience. And may I add a few more qol items on top of this:
And i am sure i am missing a lot of other such small items. I think these thing will improve the foundation a lot. Then they can add all the bells and whistles they want on top of it like dynamic missions, careers and what not.
Proper Model Matching.
I specifically want proper model matching for AI and live traffic… I don’t know which of the jet airliners I see taking off from the short GA runway at KSNA are really Pipers with the wrong model displayed and which are real tubeliners being misdirected by the bad ATC implementation.
Bring in BAE and Dornier airliners for some good fun so it’s not just airbus and Boeing
Stability/performance - especially loading times improvements where it doesn’t have to take 10 minutes to boot the sim up would be splendid. additionally VRAM usage improvements too but I think thats confirmed.
Model matching - goes without saying, would be nice to have the option to download just the 3d external model from any plane that is on the marketplace just so we can see them for group flights
Drone camera - it’s abit of a buggy mess, switching between targets during a group flight sometimes sends you to another continent. Being locked on to a target while stationary on the ground and the target does a flyby. The camera doesn’t auto tilt. etc
A bunch of things
-cirrus clouds
-better looking runway and runway lights.
-Bigger LOD for runways and runway lights so we can see them sharper when on approach.
-wipers that function
I want:
Improved ATC that : you can talk to without add-ons , doesnt vector you too low causing you to crash into terrain (has happened to me with terrain at 3000 feet) and you can get a word in without waiting 2 minutes
Better performance (however it is achieved)
Some missions to be airline jobs (example : united pilot flying the a320 in the east part of the us)
Also they need to update airport information ( example: lgts thesaloniki airport in greece a runway extension that ended in September 2020 but the runway is still not marked in the sim
