I heard Jorg say on podcast that this was not possible for technical reasons, and i see the slew of new commands that must be implemented - but hear me out.
Some ancillary commands, like drone mode, atc comms and slew have become muscle memory for many simmers over the last 4 years, not to mention everybody’s personal settings for everything else.
It would be nice to use those as a starting point for the new sim. It would break some/many 2024 specific commands, but its easier to build on what’s known than break start from scratch.
Solved perhaps?
Already in sim…
Go to keyboard ; keyboard presets config ; changed general and Airplanes controls to “…2020 Transversal”. then set as default and for all planes
Untested but hopefully a good starting point. If it works, then just do custom bindings, like before - muscle mem
For what it’s worth, there is a 2020 keyboard preset present already.
It does work… and it’s quite a relief.
I sure wish there was a way to import Control Profiles from FS2020, it would save tons of time.

Currently, when transitioning from MSFS 2020 to MSFS 2024, users are required to manually reconfigure all their controller profiles from scratch. This process can be time-consuming and frustrating, especially for those with complex setups involving multiple peripherals like yokes, throttles, rudder pedals, or custom bindings for specific aircraft.
For example, a user who has meticulously adjusted sensitivity curves, button mappings, and axis assignments for a yoke and throttle quadrant in MSFS 2020 will have to recreate these configurations manually in MSFS 2024.
An import/export feature would streamline this process, allowing users to carry over their existing settings effortlessly, saving time and ensuring a seamless migration between versions. It’s also important that this feature be as cross-compatible between versions as possible, ensuring a smooth transition not only for the current upgrade but also for future iterations of the simulator.
Thanks in advance.
