Allow third party ATC for use in career mode

Allow third party ATC solutions (such as beyond ATC) for use in career mode without penalities for not using the default ATC in the sim.

The default ATC whilst better than it was in MSFS2020 the last time I used it (a long time ago) still isn’t very good and will still ask you to do strange things and doesn’t take into account that different countries have different transition altitudes.

Totally agree! Default ATC has too many issues like not recognizing when you reach altitude, asking you to climb to cruise altitude when you are on final, identifying itself as a center thousands of miles away, and many more. Take advantage of the great third party ATC options and let us use them in career mode.

I use BeyondATC and have used it during missions…a bit wonky when on the ground as there will be frequency conflicts and redundant ATC…but at backwoods airports (no ATC) it works fine for local control using the mandatory MSFS ATC…then using the external ATC when airborne…not perfect but it works adequately. If it’s an IFR flight I cancel IFR with MSFS ATC as soon as I can - no impact on score. If you aren’t talking to ATC you can’t be dinged for missing a call.

This definitely needs to be done and is my major blocker right now from even attempting career mode however I really would like to do some missions! I use SayIntentions and it’s light years ahead of the default ATC. Also important is to separate the character voices in the career from the ATC voices. Right now there is only a slider for character voices which also turns off ATC. That’s great for getting rid of the default ATC but then you can’t hear what you’re supposed to do in the career mode from the other characters! It’s shocking some of the decisions that were made in implementing this stuff in the sim.

Would really be very nice to have the opportunity to have AI ATC or even use VATSIM and the like. Would really be a great addition to the Career mode

Been thinking about this since day one. I can’t handle the default ATC and it’s awkward requests. I’ve just been canceling IFR, turning down the character voices and using BeyondATC in the meantime.

This has my vote.

It’s an underlying problem , IMHO, that career mode is just way to hand holdy. It micromanages you when it shouldn’t.

Just give me the origin and destination, and don’t; care about how I go from A to B. If I want to use custom ATC, or no ATC, if I want to use Live, or custom, or scripted weather. Who cares? It’s a single player experience.

I often fly in IVAO while doing missions in career mode - it is a great combination - but I am ■■■■■■ when I get penalties because I CAN NOT set back the frequency the mission wants form me to give the silly radio messages I have to do - while switching back from e.g. UNICOM of IVAO where I informed the fellow members about my intentions - it is such a pity that switching frequencies messes up the whole mission algorithm.

yes used to love IFR flying but now I just cancel IFR with no penalties

Feature Request: Career Mode Integration with Online ATC Services (VATSIM, IVAO, PilotEdge)

Dear Asobo/MSFS Team,

First of all, thank you for your continued efforts in making Microsoft Flight Simulator an incredibly immersive experience. The addition of a Career Mode is a fantastic feature for virtual pilots, providing a structured progression system. However, to take it to the next level, I would love to see integration with online ATC networks such as VATSIM, IVAO, and PilotEdge. or at least providing a gate for this

My suggestion is to allow the Career Mode flight plan to be linked directly with these networks. When a flight plan is entered into the EFB, there could be an option to “Send Flight Plan to Network,” which would seamlessly file it with the chosen online ATC service. This integration would enhance immersion and realism by allowing pilots to experience real-world ATC interactions while progressing in their career.

Such a feature would bridge the gap between structured career progression and the vibrant online flying community, making for an unparalleled simulation experience.

I agree completely with all the previous posts on this matter. There are several times when the default AI ATC system never responds to a response which causes mission steps to be missed and then a penalty is incurred. Also, if a need inflight is not in the dialog box you are out of luck as well as the fact that the experience provided by the 3rd party ATC is just much better and cleaner. When I fly in Free Flight mode, I need to configure MSFS to allow my AI ATC to control the flight and when I fly career missions, I need to reconfigure for the default ATC to control the flight. If it is possible to have a general setting to allow 3rd party ATC to control all flights without upsetting all other simulator functions, it would be great.
