Allow to refund the game on PC after update 5 graphical downgrade

…you are upset because you spent 3000$ for just one graphic card to achive “real” ultra graphics and now you have my very same graphic level (on a gtx 1080).

Yes. Correct. In my opinion that’s enough reason to complain.

I have confidence Asobo will make changes so PC users will be able to tweak settings to their content. Sometimes the pop-in can be annoying, so hopefully that will be adjustable soon, but there are already workarounds for some of the other “reduced graphics” issues - Textures still look fine to me.

I wonder if there is a limit on the number of threads I can mute?

No one ever said you need an rtx 3090 to get the best from this sim, in fact Microsoft’s advertised ideal setup lists a 2080. However if you are willing (for now) to use a config hack the actual limit is almost endless.

I just found sim update 3 on a different drive. Any idea how to make that thing run?

SU3? Just pull the plug… remove the internet and start it up. But you can’t really compare… unless you have a giant running cache at hand: without cloud server & Bing data MSFS looks bad… at any level in General Settings. It could yield a comparison for water, light and clouds… these also work offline. Other things… flying etc… won’t be real fun. I’m not sure, but some aviation options depend on the internet as well.

I wonder if he can plug back in after the update check?

I haven’t tested that… but I think it won’t work. Server side things change too… and MSFS knows how to put an “Update required” popup even if you are in flight. After the UK-update there were some issues with that dialog, it came up (packages) when nothing changed.

Also, the “need to update” flag could be registered in the Store. In that case, you won’t be able to run offline after an update. So if the PC with SU-3 on it was used… But I’m not sure ! I’d say just try - if you want to fly over default rural areas, yellow buildings everywhere etc… it’s what you get when you switch all Internet options off.

I used off-line mode recently, during a server issue. I could fly and change weather settings.

They do refunds… you have to open a Zendesk ticket.

My issue was the game updater hanging. Since I can not play the game due to these mandatory updates I requested a refund and received it.

A few updates ago I was in the air when they released the update, it was cool for about 1/2 hour then all of a sudden the scenery reverted to offline mode and the Xbox log in popped up. So no if you reconnect to the net more you will lose connection and forced to update.

So you actually got a refund? Wow. I thought you wrote that because you were just a little upset with the current state of affairs…

Pity if you watched some of the Q&A live streams you would probably have a little more faith. I wish you well in your new hobby.

With MSFS and the HP Reverb G2 it feels like I’m plugged in a lot of the time, not see many women in red dresses though…

So… am I the only one who has not had a CTD or any change at all in graphic quality? I have better frame rates and everything looks exactly the same… clouds, textures, LOD… everything. To me this has been the best update so far. I’ve locked the frames at 40 (can get 70’s everywhere) and it’s incredibly smooth with CPU and GPU both around 50%. Mostly all the highest settings except texture super sampling is off (never have been able to tell any difference in this setting). After nearly a year, I’m finally enjoying the sim.

10600k @4.8gh all core

How do you mute threads? I’m getting tired of the constant moaning and the same threads keep pooping up

You need to go in to appdefaults/roaming/*flightsimulator and edit the usercft.opt file to get back the pretties. After you edit save the file make it read only and reload the sim and then it will look like this:

Second pic isnt that good but the other two were taken after I chanege the LOD from 2 to 9 though I heard that 4-5 works just fine as well. If you bought it from the MS store usercfg.opt may be in a different location.

Oh yeah this is on a i7-6 1080ti and 16 gigs of ram.

None of us should be doing this at all. Especially when we had the best visuals right from launch. As was stated, they will be returned.

Way to not understand my post but reply to it anyway lol. Changing the config I know how to do however what I’ve stated in my post is that this is default comparing SU5 to previous. Previous versions default versions only had LOD go up to 2.0 and this is what the setting is in my screenshots. And the LOD is not any different than it was before SU5, The only thing I’ve noticed now is things sometimes popping in/out rather than fading in/out.

not to brag but my specs are better than yours (and also listed in my post) so I’m not sure what you mean by I might be a “user of low or medium power computing…”

I felt the same way about the game after the update, now after adjusting the settings In the cfg file it looks like its back to its su4 quality or there abouts, give it a go !!!
