My new reverb G2 arrived yesterday and I was excited to try it out. However I am getting like 1/2 fps and openxr says cpu limited.
Admittedly I am trying it on my laptop with a 3060 mobile and 11900 cpu. But I use the sim normally and get comfortable 30fps and high settings and I tried a quest2 recently and it was useable. I just want to try the headset out before I return to the Uk from the US and use on my desktop machine.
I don’t know why it’s getting killed so so badly though. Especially from cpu! I have wmr settings set to ‘let windows decide’ for most things. In the sim settings are generally ‘low’ and using taa at 100.
In openxr I have fvr on and it set to 90% on the scale I think.
I was just following some tips from YouTube videos. Any ideas on why this unplayable level??
Yeah I totally accept it’s not going to be great. But the quest was playable and although I don’t expect it to be great I also didn’t think it would be 1/2 fps and just completely killed!
I think I have the render scaling in the game down to 90 and open xr about the same (although even using that menu when in the game is hard work).
that’s not right if you were getting 30 fps with a Q2. sorry i can’t be more helpful than other than to suggest starting your G2 install again from scratch. remove all the s/w connected with it and reinstall.
To be fair, with the quest I would get 30fps up high but nearer the ground it was probably closer to 20. But I still think it’s a big step down. Just seems odd
I wonder if I have open xr or something doing something that is way too intensive.
I did try another install or wmr but same thing happened.
even so u should still get more than 1/2 fps. maybe try really reducing msfs render scale or resolution in openxr dev tool as Bears has suggested. set them really low just to test. if u then get much more fps then i think your gpu is limiting u. it is on the weak side for a G2, your cpu is fine but msfs in vr is affected by gpu the most.
Oh no, even HP don’t list the RTX 3060 in there minimum workstation specifications. You’re going to struggle I fear. Of course low graphics quality isn’t going to tackle your CPU issues. You can try disabling AI planes, boats, cars etc. Try simple planes like the Robin D400. Change the Reverb display Hz from 90 to 60 and turn off photogrammetry. Use the preset low settings in the VR Graphics, enable DLSS… and pray!
