Aloha , any recommended addons for Hawaii ? Mahalo

Looks like Xbox is finally getting the iniBuilds PHNL. I’ve been waiting to see this one.

Finally getting ready to head over to Hawaii for a month or so and do some exploring. Just did some initial testing and here is what I ended up going with;

Seafront Vessels - Hawaiian Islands (Cleans up Pearl Harbor nicely, while also fixing up sunken docks, etc… and adds allot of life to the shoreline)

SamScene3D USA Modern Cities 2 - Adds to Honolulu Photogrammetry nicely

iniBuilds - PHNL
Northern Sky Studio - PHMK, PHJH, PHHN, PHOG, PHMU, HI01, PHNY,
South Oak Co. - PHPA, PHDH,

Freeware:

Dole Pineapple Plantation
Haleakala Observatory

I haven’t checked out Waikiki, HAWAII. I see it hasn’t been updated in awhile so not sure if it is compatible with WU13 and other addons, anyone tried?

Will be here for a month or so exploring before heading back to the VA. Looking for suggestions on places to go and things to check out!

Also looking for spots to hit up with the Twin Otter and Kodiak Amphibian versions on the water!

Thanks!

I recommend flying from PHNL-PHOG - very beautiful route!

Would you mind linking to where you found these? Thanks

Checking out Little Nav Map and cross referencing with Google. Lots of islands out and about that will be fun to explore with the Amphibian Kodiak and Twin Otter.

Some are off limits / restricted, and some families own. I’m sure we’ll get the right permits to visit anyway and bring researchers etc…

Good spot for //42 Campout!

A nice, leisurely flight at 5,000’ from PHBK all the way down to PHTO is nice in a non-fast plane. (err, during the daytime of course)

I’ve recently been having a lot of fun flying around the islands in a Hawaiian Airlines-liveried A320 Neo to many of the upgraded South Oak of Northern Sky airports. But this got me thinking…

I always loved flying on Aloha 737s when I was a kid. In the Xbox Marketplace, are there any Aloha 737 liveries available? I was always a fan of the Funbird liveries, but also the current Aloha Cargo looks pretty spectacular as well.

So for those of us on Xbox, do we have options?

Back in the airliners with the VA after a month and a half of island hopping in the Twin Otter and Kodiak.

Was a blast exploring Hawaii, allot of great payware and freeware enhanced the experience and with the time zone difference, I had ATC coverage on VATSIM almost every flight.

I like to fly gliders out of Princeville on the north side of Kauai. It’s fun flying up the canyons to the west.

Anyone have South Oak Lanai? I bought this a year ago and noticed it has a sloped taxiway (uphill from runway to parking apron). I figured the elevation issue was a conflict with another addon but never got to checking. Today, I loaded up MSFS with an empty Community folder and Lanai is perfectly flat. If I add South Oak PHNY with nothing else, the sloped taxiway is back. It’s not horrible and maybe it’s realistic but I’m guessing not. With a low horsepower aircraft (I.e. C172), if I stop on the taxiway, it’s impossible to get moving again.

I have the same version add-on and the same results that you noticed. I don’t know what it is actually like at PHNY IRL, though. Perhaps next month’s release of the new sim will shed more light on it?

Edit:
I did find this with Microsoft’s Copilot:
"Yes, there is a slight incline when moving from the runway to the terminal at Lanai Airport (PHNY). "

Perhaps South Oak got it right. I sent them an email asking if the slope was realistic. If I hear back, I’ll post the verdict here.

Just an update…. I sent South Oak an email 5 days ago. No reply. No bounce back. It’s a bit disappointing when developers provide no service after the sale. Fortunately, it’s not a big deal. I was just curious if the terrain was accurate.

Kind of unusual. I have had good response from this developer in the past.
There might be extenuating circumstances.

I removed the South Oak Lanai and replaced it with the Northern Sky version. No more steep slope.

On a different subject, I also have the Northern Sky Princeville (HI01). I didn’t notice this in FS2020 but in 2024, something is causing a parked AI aircraft to vanish once I turn off the runway after landing. There are two fixed wing parking spots and 3 helo parking so I’m unsure why that’s happening. AI Traffic is fine without the scenery added.

I was happy with FLYNDRIVE4D’s Landmarks Hawaii expansion, and it seems to work well under 2024 today. An update dropped on Simmarket today, and I noticed they now have an extension for the expansion.

It’s inexpensive and anything to enhance Hawaii is good. I mainly need to look at the included airports and see if they’ll conflict with add-ons I already have.
