There have been hints in the Dev Q&A about a major overhaul of the ATC system but no specific plans or timeline.
Adding a bit of detail to what Djeez2 said, Working Title are rebuilding the Garmin systems throughout the sim. That’s their work in the free preview “mod” on the Xbox Marketplace.
They need to tackle all these systems first, prior to fixing ATC, since the flight management systems need to operate correctly to support any real ATC realism.
So, bare that in mind when trying to establish a mental road map of when we might see the ATC overhauled.
What is encouraging is, given how great their work is, we can expect a quality job from them.
