AMD 21.17.1 + CTD with Reverb G2 = Still Crashing

The new version of AMD Adrenalin driver has been released. I will be testing the driver out to see if the CTD has been fixed, but have very little hope as this issue has been around since the release of the sim. Currently, this issue has risen to the 2nd on VR bug list on the development update and is being under investigation, so hope Asobo will finally address this issue, but every driver release gives me a faint hope followed by disappointment. I will post my result here after some testing tonight, but hope others can do as well.

Hope more than anything else for this to improve the issues, but having had no feed back from AMD I doubt they are investigating ctds for MSFS.Great your doing testing.I think most will be waiting to see how you get on though.

I just did a quick hour flight in VR over Iceland (Bush Trip). It’s the first time I’ve been able to fly for more than 15 minutes without a CTD in months. I am not sure if it’s one of those random draw of luck, but, I will do another flight to see if I can reproduce the result. Anyone who has AMD GPUs with the newest driver, please post your experience here.

Will let you know at the end of my hour and a half fliight north island Aoteoroa.

20 minutes to ctd . Have had a few flights actually lasting more than half an hour prior to loading this latest driver. Back to 21.3.1 for me.

Crashed after 45 minutes.

Sorry to get everyone’s hopes up. It crashed within 15 minutes.

Well on my second flight in the Carenado 170 in vr things got better. I flew for 1 hour 25 minutes and no ctd.Did touch and goes at 2 airports landed back home .I changed one setting which was to turn on radeon chill and lock in 30 fps.I will do some more flying tomorrow.

Mine lasted about 40 minutes with Radeon Chill set at 30fps. Are you on the latest driver?

Latest drivers, going for another flight, will report back soon.

You all with the G2 have you tried driver 21.2.3 installed through device manager [driver only no software] after you have Uninstalled your latest AMD drivers.

No have you .

My last flight ended in a crash after about an hourr, just about to land to ,rather annoying.I might try Corei7 idea.

You bet! Maybe you should try it?

Care to share how its working out for you so far ?

A little more details would be helpful. I’ve tried multiple driver-only versions and all crashed. 21.2.3 also wasn’t good for me. I still believe that this is an issue that only Asobo can fix.

Yes I just went for a fly with just the driver as suggested by corei7 and still same old problem.I agree ,sounds like the amd drivers are not the root cause of this.
Happy to be proved wrong .

I can’t even be bothered firing it up to test these days. Feels like work with no enjoyment during the times it briefly works as I’m constantly on edge waiting for it to happen. If it isn’t fixed after the update on the 27th I’m pestering Steam for a refund as the software clearly isn’t fit for purpose.

I have the 5800x, 6900xt nitro+ SE, 64 gigs GSkill ram, Windows 10 updated.

55" LG Tv 4k

VR settings 100% Render Scale, 120 both lods and high to medium settings.

I have only the Latest 2013 and the 2015-2019 visual C++ installed as this Sim is the only Game-Sim I have installed or use.

AMD driver 21.2.3 only installed through device manager.

Hardware scheduling off game mode off.

I have little issue with the 152,172 and a few other smaller planes.

Visually this driver has been the most stable for VR than any of the others for this graphics card. I think it’s this Sim as everyone else does that is causing the CTD’s.

And yes even with this driver I do get a CTD but not as quick or as fast as all other driver I’ve tried.

In Services in windows I’ve disabled the two services for AMD.
