Only a 3070 so slightly struggling with 8GB VRAM, it’s fine in most places, but I prefer to have settings I can just keep the same.
This is with Fenix A320 in complex 3rd party airport scenery btw. So like worst case scenario.
try TAA + DX11 + TLOD 100 - 150
are you on 4k?
Try setting nothing above high. No ultra. I’ve seen enough AAA game title comparisons that ultra is usually only beneficial to people who like to say they can run everything at ultra and still get a bazillion FPS ![]()
Yep on DX11 and TAA, 1440p. Using ULTRA present so LOD’s at 200. Maybe will try a few things on high, just wondered if there was anything specific I could birch down that would be a magic VRAM helper.
definitelly TLOD on 100 - 150 will help
with my 3080 im running 200 but sometime i run at 100 - 150 on some scenarios.
WOW… I’ve been watching 5800x3D prices (Not jumping to AM5 yet, will wait a generation) and this about seals the deal for me.
same here. Got mine for 389 USD and didnt need to spend on DDR5 and a new MOBO
its a no brainer.
Where did you score it @ that price?
Thanks, I really don’t want to go below 200 because the low draw distance is so noticeable for me, I would rather keep at 200 and avoid the very heavy airports.
I´m not from U.S neither Europe, so i don´t think will help.
I got an open box ![]()
but its selling for around $420, totally worth it.
if you see the comparsion with the new Ryzen 7000 it looks even cheaper.
to solve your problem i would get a 3090Ti ![]()
Haha yes, I think I will get a new GPU when the 4000 series comes out. But it will mean also a new case and so total rebuild, again…
Yeah, i was going that route, but after seeing the prices for MOBOs / CPU and the new 4090 i decided to keep my setup for another year and got the 5800x3D. With the prices for the 3090 would be a smart move if you plan to keep your setup. Ive seen 3090Ti new for 1000$ or less…
Making a move with this new gen will be expensive and i would need a completely new setup to add the AM5 chips, DDR5 and new 4000 series and that would mean at least 3000 USD.
Yeah I mean will probably get 3090 when the 4000 come out. If they come down enough, otherwise I will stick with the 3070. In a way this GPU has been a curse I had a 2070super and then some builders caused damage to my PC and they replaced it for me with a 3070, if they hadn’t done that I probably would have bought a 3090 by now to replace the 2070super, but somehow upgrading from a 30 series to another 30 series just seems weird.
yeah, i was thinking about that as well. Might be the best move to go after a 4080 16gb
I’ve got a 5800X3D currently paired with an RTX 2070S (also 8 GiB); at 1440p I’ve been starting from the base ‘Ultra’ settings but reduced the “texture resolution” down to “high”, a tip I’ve seen making the rounds. This should keep the same geometry and effects detail, but textures will use less memory (and be slightly less sharp).
I haven’t noticed much visual downgrade, but I’m hitting the max memory on DX11 less often in the Los Angeles area, which is dominated by the widespread photogrammetry scenery and has many large and small airports.
I doubt most users can see the difference. Terrain LOD when coupled with offscreen caching at ultra also makes a big difference in VRAM usage, as most of these objects are stored within VRAM when offscreen caching is at ultra. The easiest way to nearly max out the VRAM on my 3090 is setting terrain LOD at 600.
Guys I have a question.
Im getting the 5800X3D and I need to update my motherboard BIOS, the question is. Do I update the MB to the very last BIOS version or do I update it to the one form when it says that supports the new CPU?
For example it says 5800XD supported from BIOS ver. F61 but the latest BIOS ver. is now F64d (released in July 2022).
Just install the latest official BIOS for your motherboard - presumably the latest on the manufacturer website as I’m assuming they wouldn’t post a beta BIOS.
