AMD Adrenaline driver confusion - Version 24.12.1 vs 26.2.2?

Ref:

My Adrenaline driver version is 24.12.1 with a Radeon 6800 video card. (on an AM4-B550 motherboard).

The above referenced topic claims that the latest driver is 26.2.2 and the release notes claim that it supports the Radeon 6800. (If I understand it correctly.)

My Adrenaline software’s “update” button says that I am at the latest version, even if I select “Recommended + Optional” updates.

On the one hand, I want to be where I should be, especially with the MSFS-2024 CTD bug crashing my system to a hard reboot.

On the other hand, I don’t want to bork things up any worse than they are.

What say ye?

The new driver will not install if the graphics card is not supported.

If the driver does not solve your problem, you can always reinstall the old one.

When reinstalling an older version, AMD recommends first running its “AMD Cleaning Utility” (similar to DDU).

One thing to note before changing driver: settings made in Adrenaline are sometimes reset. Make a note of them before installing the new driver and check them afterward.

There was a period where pressing the update button did not work. That was because they changed the installer system up and introduced a download manager that optionally installs chipset drivers and ai options. Reminder that those are optional add ons on top of the actual driver options.

To get the latest driver .. you will have to go to AMD’s website and download the drivers directly. After installation of the new revised drivers the update button should work the next go round for the march or april driver update.

You may also stay on your current driver if you are satisfied with it. I do not think there are major updates for the RX6800 series that i am aware off.

Also I want to mention that with the latest Adrenaline software you can no longer start the program on a certain page that you like. An example is that I use custom fan speeds. So I like the software to start on the Performance, Tuning page. The new version of the software starts with the Home page. There isn’t any way to change that behavior. So I downgraded to the previous version I was using before.
