AMD FSR Frame Gen on multi monitor setups

Hi All,

I’ve got a triple monitor setup (three 4K LG OLEDS) running off my 5090 and 9950X3D.

Since DLSS never supported multi monitor frame generation, I always discounted its use, but after SU2 released I thought I’d click AMD FSR and see what happened. Low and behold, I’m now seeing frame generation on my side monitors (render windows 1 & 2), but NOT on the main render window for some reason.

I’m using NVIDIA Control Panel to lock VSYNC (as the in game VSYNC has now setting when Frame generation is turned on). Have tried locking to both 60Hz and 120Hz accross the three monitors however the results are the same - when I turn on FSR I get frame generation on the second and third render windows, but not the main one.

I guess I could use lossless scaling on the main window but it would be nice to get everything working in sync… does anybody have any experience with FSR and multi monitor setups?

Cheers,

EDIT: Nevermind, turning developer mode off fix it. I can’t believe I can get frame generation accross 3 monitors now…its amazing that its not possible with DLSS, but is possible with AMD FSR. Fantastic!

Thank you for this post. I also have triple screens (TVs on hdmi) and I have been looking for a frame gen solution that works on all 3 screens. Will try this tomorrow. I’m also on a 5090 and 9950x3d. I also cannot use pop out panels as they cause the sim to freeze/CTD when using NVidia frame gen…perhaps with AMD fsr3 frame gen I will also be able to use pop out panels from the sim to my side monitors and also the other 3 smaller aux monitors I run (6 in total).

I must admit I don’t use and haven’t tried popping out panels whilst using FSR FG so not sure what the effects are. That said, I’ve been really impressed with FSR FG and the fact it works across multi monitors is a massive advantage over DLSS FG.

Hey, did you solve the pop out freezes?

Yes. It works no problem. The latest beta for SU4 has solved the problems I was having.

Hey guys…

I tried amd fsr3 but after some time, the side windows turn into a slo slides show and the main view freezes. I have a 5090/14900ks so a good computer.

Are you guys seeing this ?

Does popped out panels cause freezes for you ?

Thank you

So i gave it a try today again and FSR3 on triple screen will cause the middle screen to freeze and side windows to tun into a powerpoint slow slideshow until they quickly freeze and i m force to kill and restart the app.

As it seems to work for some, i m trying to understand what i do wrong.

So 3 windows, 2024, powerful PC (5090 14900ks) driver nvidia 577 (581.80 gave me CTD at some aiports occasionaly with 2020 only)

For those following this thread… i set settings as this and i m getting great FPS and no CTD or freeze so far.

With a 5090/14900k, you should be able to run triple screen in 4K DLSS (not 1080). I am on a 5090/9950x3d, triple 4k screens, DLSS-quality, AMD FG, locked frames at 30 and then FG up to 60fps and it’s very smooth. I also have the dynamic settings turned on and set to 30. I think there’s something else limiting your system if you have to run at 1080p resolution. I would do a DDU of the graphics drivers, make sure you use dlss swapper program to update both the nvidia and AMD drivers to the latest versions, clear the caches for MSFS, etc. How much ram do you have? 48gb? What speed?

Limit your frames via V-SYNC in the NVidia control panel to 60. As @tempestornado23 says, this will maintain 30 native frames and then FSR FG will double them up to 60 and lock with V-SYNC. Thats what I do and as long as I can maintain a native 30 its very smooth.

The problem is with night lighting or clouds, the GPU timing gets too high and frames drop into the high 20’s causing some stutters. @tempestornado23 is this something you encouter with overcast conditions or night lighting at 3rd party airports?

Cheers

No, I have not had this problem at night but I am on standard airports and have not tried 3rd party airports with denser details.

Hey finally found you guys here talking about multi monitor and FG. Pain in the neck to make this work well. I also have similar setup 5090 with 14900ks

No frame generation will get only 30fps. It doesn’t feel right to have such a good setup and having poor performance. I ve tried the fsr and I noticed indeed the two sides monitor FG works. Turned on the dev mode and the main monitor gets a better performance but for sure there is something there not right. There are flickering and weird artifacts.

How with all these technologies msfs dev team couldn’t find a way to proper give us a good multi monitor support. I mean it is basic for a simulator.

If a use dlss and FG of course there is much better performance. However the ghosting and weird image on side monitors destroys the immersion.

I had this happen (9800X3D, RTX5090, Win11 25H2, SU4) and I think (just a guess) it was a combination of my MSFS Graphics settings really being at the max, and it would only happen if I used ALT TAB to switch out of MSFS to Edge, or Navigraph…

There was a reported Windows bug with ALT TAB - which draws a “live preview” of every open window for the on-screen chooser - which would do exactly this freeze / slo thing to monitors. It was apparently fixed in Windows 24H2, but no mention of it since. Unsure if it was the cause for you (or for me…)

I reduced my MSFS settings a bit and it hasn’t happened since.
