AMD FSR3 Upscaling not working in SU3 (AMD 9070xt, maybe other cards also)

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Enabling FSR3 Upscaling in settings doesn’t enable FSR3 Upscaling eventhough it is shown as ON.
Looking in Devmode > Debug > Display FPS shows that FSR3 Upscaling is OFF..

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

Yes

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

Always

REPRODUCTION STEPS

  1. Enable FSR3 Upscaling in settings
  2. Check Devmode Display FPS
  3. Surprise.

[PC Only] Are you using Developer Mode or have you made any changes to it?

Using yes, else you can’t see the issue. Changes no..

[PC Only] Many issues may be due to an outdated graphics card. Please state your Graphics Card Driver Manufacturer (NVIDIA, Intel, AMD) and Version:

AMD 9070XT (tried multiple drivers (beta and release)) 25.6.3 is installed now.

MEDIA

SU2 On and working. Render resolution 2293 x 960

SU3 On but not working. Resolution 3440 x 1440

Edited Topic title because I used Frame Generation instead of FSR3 Upscaling, thanks to Zadma for pointing the mistake out. ^^

Moved to Sim Update 3 Beta | MSFS 2024 > Install, Performance & Graphics since OP indicated having the issue under SU3 and it was working under SU2.

I have the same configuration: 9070xt + adrenaline 25.6.3 + msfs beta 1.5.12 and for me the FSR 3.1 framegen works correctly.

You should try the TAA antialias, it’s much better than the FSR 3.1 (much sharper)

Just to be sure, did you check in Devmode - Display FPS? Just having the setting On doesn’t mean it is working.

I’m a bit confused - in the screenshot where it’s “not” working the frame rate is nearly identical to when it “is” working, so what exactly isn’t working or rather, what makes you think it isn’t working?

Yes, of course. I’ll check again this evening.

Looks like its working to me. Unless you can point out specifically what i should be looking at to verify that it is really not working. (Also on a similar setup 9800X3D-9070XT-3440x1440 ultrawide)

For me i get better image quality with Fluid motion frames (The driver based framegen) Easily verified with now badly the engine fans look when i used the in game frame gen with the pmdg 777. So i lock the base frames and keep the sim in TAA and have the drivers autodetect and enable FMF framegen when the sim starts.

The screenshots are made in the Menu outside the game.

These are made in game:

SU2 2293x960

SU3 3440x1440

Enable Dev Mode then go to Debug menu, there you’ll see the Display FPS option enable that to see the performance window like here in upper right corner.

In there you’ll see Screen / Post and Render screensizes. If Render is identical to the other 2 values it aint using FSR3 Upscaling.

Yes, and frame gen is active in both of those - since you’re continually referencing screen size I think there may be some confusion. Frame generation has nothing to do with screen resolution/size - are you referring to AMD FSR 3 upscaling?

Ouch, that is a huge mistake by me.. Yes FSR3 Upscaling, no Idea why I used Frame Generation. :grimacing:

I usually use TAA but changed to AMD FSR 3 Quality and seeing a rendered resolution of 2293x960 as expected.

Yep, looks like it works.. What graphics card do you have?

AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE on 25.6.2.

Thanks, could be another 9000 series issue (like the artifacts at night with some lights).

No worries… as long as you were able to catch the error and fix. Considering my use case sits firmly in the camp of only using framegen only and not the upscaling part of it i bid you good luck !!

Also as we are discussing this a new build was released so you may want to verify that the upscaling works or not on the new build.

Thanks! But it makes a big difference in reporting the issue. I even used FSR On and Off on the screenshots. Oh well, i’ll blame it on the heat.

1.5.13.0 Doesn’t fix the issue. I uninstalled MSFS24 to have a clean state. No idea what is wrong.

Do you have all the settings in Adrenalin left to default? Maybe some upscaling or other setting in there is conflicting with SU3.

6900xt. Works fine
